hey guys it has been like 2 or 3 weeks i am on the pred and my side effect is getting worse with everyday.

i have severe thirst like tongue sticking to roof of mouth and i am drinking a ton of water and peeing a storm. 

i looked on line and other than that i dont have any discolored skin, rashes,etc.

my joints do scream between doses as it wears off but then as soon as i take another pred i am good for several hours.

i just feel so tired too.  i wake up with my body screaming and i just feel like crap. 

but my major complaint is i cant get enough liquid in cuz it all goes immediately out!. 

now fyi i was the kind of women you seldom meet. i am normally a camel! i urinate no more than twice daily prior.

this is essential for my job as i am on the road in a car 8 hours a day! 

so going to pee 10 times a day is a major change~and innconvienence~ i dont recall from the last time i was on pred forever? 

i havent told any docs yet..... dont know if i need to? anybody have any input?  is this adrenal related? is it normal?

Hey dear,

You know that I haven't used pred...but...I seem to remember reading somewhere that it can mess with your blood sugar??  The great thirst and peeing so much reminds me of when my  son's blood sugars are too high.  Perhaps it is worth a call to the doc, or do you have any way to do a blood sugar test?

Just a thought, probably way off...but with all our diabetes history, it's where my head went.

hey yally... holy cow girl.. looks like we're all taking turns with feeling like poo.. hhmm.. it has been a while since I've been on pred too.. you know a good person to ask? Erin.. :) She always has all the answers! :) :) :) Last time I was on Pred, I was pregnant, so pee'd all the time anyway! ha! Let us know how you are doing girlie..

Do I KNOW what you mean!  My doctor recently put me on Prednisone, and I have been on it for about two weeks now.  I have waking up at night to urinate--something I have not done since I was pregnant!  I feel thirsty all the time.  It has helped considerably with my body aches and pains, as well as my scleritis.  I am starting to taper off it now, down to 40 mg a day, and inbetween, I do hurt.  In fact, I am wondering if maybe I have arthritis and not Crohn's Disease after all...long story on that one!

I would call the doctor if you have any concerns whatsoever.  Keep us posted!

I know the pred makes you retain water.. so is this just your body getting rid of all the water it held on to maybe? Hhhmm...

I would get my blood sugar tested it sounds like the pred is messing with your sugar levels. (Are you prednisone or methyleprednisolone-prednisone should not be wearing off before you take the next one).

Yally,

I have been on 15 mg. since Sept. had got down to 12mg and the rheumy pushed me back up to 15 mg. again. Hasn't helped the pain much more.

I did urinate a lot but not so much now. Maybe the water has been helped

in my body.

She also put me on Plaquinil. 400 mg a day. Haven't had to many side

effects so far. Also on 25 mg. elavil. 30mg. resteril.

hey yally...

pisslikearacehorse i do too! always had. and it's always when on prednisone. an impressive stream and moreso in the middle of the night.

hey guys thanks so much for all your replies and support. i am sorry i havent been online to respond sooner. i will check my blood sugar as that just might be it? never thought of it so thanks a million! mom is a diabetic so i will take a test at her place. of course you know i love chocolate and i have also been dipping into the stash. i better go find out soon! take care everyone yally
