 Happy Saturday everyone!

Well, I took my second dose of MTX last night.. will see how I do.. last weekend, I got a migraine on Sunday, but not sure if that was the MTX or allergies or what.. so I am interested in how tomorrow will work out..

Weather is kinda screwy here.. was hot and sunny this morning.. now is cloudy, windy and cooler.. we've got weather coming in, so I'm in for the day/night.. I can already feel it.. yuck..

Things are going ok here.. I have an appt on Tuesday to meet with my Primary and find out what is going to happen with my Medical Board stuff.. am curious as to what she's going to say.. oh well.. what will be, will be..

How is everyone else?  So good to see you guys on here.. I read the posts daily and you guys crack me up.. Quite the family we have.. I need to read the other threads and then I'm off to take a bath and soak this old, but not so old bones.. talk to you guys soon..

well i keep forgetting that daily pred- on purpose or not?- and i am a payin for it today!!!  had company last night and like the fool i am thought i could play

wii tennis and bowling.  man does my neck hurt!!!!!  plus i did a full out meal and could hardly hold the serving platter so that was a close one..... right on the floor!

lol  does anyone have a wii?  we have had ours over a year now and let me tell you i have no business swinging my shoulders and forgettin who i am.  but us big kids had a blast too!  i dint do the golf game cus i was too busy eating my cheesecake from cheesecake factory!  yum yum

 

so i guess if i am going to survive today i need to take some prednisone.  ooh mom23 i do miss the enbrel shot in like 4-5 days after i take it.  it does not last a week for me but i think it is better than mtx.  maybe cause you feel the results so quickly.  and yesterday i did get a bit yucky from my mtx.  the morning was ruff but ( ruff butt?) hahaha

 i will leave it at that punn! lol  so with that said my dear friends who i so wish i could break bread with ....... good day.  yally

 

ps raven was the snow pretty out your way???? it was so pretty out this way folks were taking photos as it glistened on tree limbs and frosted our horizen honestly it was the first time in a long time i thought the snow was so pretty. usually by now i am saying ENOUGH but not this snow fall it was a photo op.  true natural beauty. 

 

Hi everyone,

this must be the weekend for parties!   We ended up with one at our house last night too, VERY unexpectedly, but fun.  You see, Friday was hubby's birthday.  We went our to dinner(just the two of us), came home had a small cake with one of the boys.  I thought that was it....but apparently hubby didn't.  All day yesterday he was looking for clues that I was planning some kind of surprise for him(which I wasnt'), and about 3:00 in the afternoon, he came in with a snit-eating grin on his face and asked when everyone was coming over, because he had figured it all out, and knew I was up to something (which I really wasn't).  he was so proud of himself, and looked so happy....I had no other choice but to throw together a "surprise" party in all of 3 1/2 hours!  Put out the SOS call to family and friends, ordered pizza and wings, got a cake, FAST, and thankfully, had about 20 family and friends show up to "surprise" him. No matter how many people tried to tell him that this really wasn't planned, he just KNEW that I had this in the works for weeks!  Bless his heart, don't think I will ever tell him the real story, but the rest of us will remember this forever.  Hubby was so happy and thrilled, it was worth every bit of it.  His birthday, but I was the one who got the surprise I guess.  Whew.

Oh cheesecake, Yally.....yum, that's one of my favorites...but the "fools" thing??? I am offended, I resemble that remark lol!!  The boys all love those video games, never tried them myself.  They really LOVE Guitar Hero, and they also all get together online and play 360.  Pretty cool since they are scattered around the country but can still play a game together and chat.   Have fun at the party Ducky....we went to a party at one of those bounce places a few months ago, the kids all had a blast....even all the big folks got involved. Seems like forever since our kids were 9..I miss those days!!

Got enbrel shot #2 in Friday night...high hopes so far.. really think it's helping.  No stinging or burning yet....I think I probably have so much fat in my tummy, just can't feel it lol.

Time to go, a friend and I are going to help my mom finish cleaning our her place so she can get the realtor over....praying it wil sell quickly, which these days will defintely take ALOT of prayer.

Ducky-as to jumpimg on all the stuff we all do it-the very first week that the pred made it possible to walk without limping I decided to go bowling with my three year old nephew and his teen age brother. I hurt for a week afterward. I think we have an overwhelming urge to forget we are sick for a little while.

Yally-can't imagine forgeting my pred-I'm more likely to forget I already took it.

Jody-nothing like a party that surprizes the host!

Extra Pred-with a side of Meth:

 

Well some of you have been following my arguement with myself-Rational brain defeated irrational brain.

I went to my Rhuemys office today and told her all about my 3 extra pred on wedensday as well as how well I had been doing prior to that day.

I suggested cutting the pred and asked her what she would suggest I do on really bad days.  Her reply was

"You can double up on the prednisone if you need to but it comes with a side of Methotextrate."

So, I restart my pred taper tommorrow.  If I do well then I stay just on plaq and Sulindac.  If I fail the taper then I get stuck with Methotextrate.

I also asked her about taking tylenol while on plaq because the patient information sheet says to avoid it-she said I read too much and you should not believe everything you read.

Ok,I'll see your enbrel and plaquenil and raise you two Celebrex lol!  Seriously..not trying to make a joke of the pain we're all in (well, maybe a little joke, doesn't hurt to laugh, right Yally??)...but really isn't it amazing how many different combos of meds are out there and how differently they work on each of us?  Feels like sometimes it's just a roll of the dice until they find the right one.   Mom, when do you see your doc again?  I don't know what they told you about enbrel, but mine said that  it could work in as little as two weeks, but can take as long as three months...I know it's discouraging, but try and hang in there!  Maybe for you it will be more of a gradual improvement???  You've had a tough time of it with the pain on top of school, the kids, and all the driving you do....don't know how you do it, really.   Even though I do see improvement over where I was two weeks ago, I certainly am not pain-free. Wonder if we really can expect to be?  Sj, never heard that about the tylenol with plaq either....I take the arthritis-strength type here and there when I need to, cuz it lasts 8 hours. My rheumy told me that was ok along with the plaq and Celebrex.  Interesting...... Joan..good luck with the tens unit, dear, I have heard that those can be very helpful.... you've been in pain for such a long time, I really hope this works for you!!

The lady that does my hair went to my rheumy today..she was diagnosed with psoratic(sp?) arthritis...poor thing(gosh, are we contagious??), her hands and shoulders are so swollen...I have no idea how she keeps working! Looks like mtx is in the mix for her, and she's kind of scared, too..but  hopeful that she'll feel better.  Going to tell her about all of you guys here, maybe she'll check out the forum, too.

I know I also heard up to three months, I guess its hard not to get impatient! I wonder if we will ever be pain free but then that would be a remission? One thing on the Enbrel is a constant stuffy/runny nosy and sneezing...yuck, almost like a cold but it never really gets much worse? Just enough to feel a bit crummy I suppose. 

Your poor hair lady I know she is scared by the MTX, it is scary! I know I was terrified of it but now seem to take it without thinking about it for the most part. The fear of Enbrel has replaced my fear of the MTX.

Wow Raven your girls are tall already, no need for stretching! If your oldest is 5"6 at 13?? That is actually quite tall. She is taller than my 14 year old son. I would say they have plenty of time to grow! They are giants compared to my kiddo's (and they are boys) my 11 year old is barely my height (I'm 5'0).

I'm sorry you are having such a morning, when something like that happens you can only wonder what else is in store! I had one of those days yesterday...I was at the drive thru with my sons and ended up spilling a drink on myself, and had to rush home but didn't have time to change my jeans before driving back to town for a parent night at my daughters school. Although, I think you have me beat with the poop! I hope your day improves!!!

sj i am sorry but i am not certain what to tell you. the kidder in me wants to post give me give me give me..... i want that drug . but i do know you are seriously concerned and puzzled and for that i have no answer other than keep on top of it.

well it si suppose to get in the 50's and maybe 60's this weekend, which will be nice as my baby turns 16 on sunday!!!! how can my baby be 16! and in like 3 weeks my eldest will be done with college for this year, one year behind her and it feels like i was just parting with her. this summer should be interesting with 4 drivers and 2 cars!

Raven - your grass green, i mean brown yet? hope the white is leaving the landscape as it is here. een warm enough to venture outside without freezing in these parts. next time you go to toronto let me know we can meet up somewhere on the QEW. lol i am only min from ft. erie.

Believe it or not we had snow today.  Not a lot but come on, its April. 

Bear, don't get rid of the satellite package yet, the playoffs are about to begin.  They don't end until some time in June. 

I started getting cortisone injections in the lumbar spine on Tuesday.  Went well but will need a few more injections to get some relief.  Even then I only have about a 50% chance that it will do anything.  Not sure why but since the injection, I've been peeing alot.  My blood sugars have been fairly good, only a little spike and I've had a bit more energy.  Not sure if it's a coincidence but I'm not complaining.

Okay who's hoarding the Meth. I can't take it anymore-I went down to 2.5mgs of pred and both of my shoulders swelled up and I could not sleep last night because no matter what position I was in they hurt.
So, I caved in and took 20mgs of pred this morning and will start tapering back to 5 when I don't hurt so much.
My Rhuemy told me the extra pred comes with a side of Methotextrate. The Rational side of my brain is now demanding to know "Where's the Meth"..
The illogical side of my brain just wants another Pred presciption and is hiding in the closet hoping not to ever find the methotextrate.

I hope everyone has been too busy enjoying wonderful weather and good health to post.
