Hi Guys! Missed you! I"m back, the kids started school today, and it looks like my work is going to let me work from home 2 days a week - yahoo! turn LOVE the new emoticons!

Christina, a couple of things - you might want to ask your doc, but 1 mg of Folic acid is no where near enough from what I was told, especially w/what meds your taking. Plus adding a B complex to your daily diet may help your fatiuge as well (it usually contains folic acid in it also). When I used to be on methotrexate, my fatigue worsened if I didn't drink a TON of water daily (the amount I needed was the "I just can't drink another sip of that stuff..." amount! sad  But maybe you'll find relief with less than that!)

If you find there are a lot of kids coming to school sick and that your body is having a hard time with it - you might want to ask the teacher to send out a reminder to parents to please not send children to school when they are sick. If they are young, maybe help supply the teacher with the hand gel for the kids to use before eating, etc. My kids have the gel in their lunchboxes as well (of course, they don't always remember to use them!)

hi am sick with some kind of virus which is a bummer especially since it is very pretty out. am shivering under a blanket right now. i have heard that some ra patients also are very prone to viruses. mine is from allergies as my immune system is poor.

well enough moaning tomorrow may be a lot better!! (let's hope so)

yally were your big apple tastings x-rated and that's why you haven't told us about them?

lets see got it!  hahaha turn sorry been so busy with three children!  our italian son is working out perfect!  he is a cutie patutie!

 

sorry joan for the lack of communication but new son new job old life just been crazy!

 

new york was great but i died there walking around!  i was so proud i did as much as i did.  around 4 i had to sit the rest of the day out but otherwise i kept up the pace and we went all over.  true bloody tourists!  seeing the sites.  NBC, ground zero, rockerfeller center, john lennon memorial, etc!

 

i never get computer time anymore with three kids and one only source to his homeland is the computer so he lives on it!  i dont mind though he is a good kid with good english!  if anything i am corupting his knowledge with slang!

 

hope everyone is doing well? sorry you are ill joan.  christina you doing any better? me i am ok.

have this numb lip thingy going on i think it is a calcium deficiency?  not certai but my blood work is low so maybe? 

 

gonna take meds today and hope to be awake and alive for tomorrow?!  we will have to see?

Yally, your lip is numb? How do you relate that to calcium deficiency? Glad your new son is working out! smilewinkgrin

dont know but when i googled it it came up as the number one explaination to numb lip and it just so happens my cal is low! who knows? anyway it is california hot here! hugs to all andthanks for aking

I could think of a much more interesting explanation for a numb lip-maybe not as factual but much more interesting.

Anyway, I was supposed to make a quick trip to lab corp today for regular six week blood work and instead have spent the whole day giving lessons to a young PA on how to treat autoimmune patients with sinus infections. (after taking my mtx last friday I spent the whole week with fever and chills and a sore throat so yes you can take mtx when you have an infection but you may pay for it if you put treatment off too long).
After going through the usual -yes, I know I don't have the normal symptoms of a sinus infection-I am on immune suppresent drugs-yes I know that current protocol is not to give antibiotics for a sinus infection-I am on immune suppresent drugs. This child who looks no older than the niece who just went off to college then asks me if I can take amoxicillian.
I tell him no penicilians because of the methotrexate-"Oh, uh.." types furiously on lap top, "You're absolutely right." After several painful minutes of him trying to think of an antibiotic that he is allowed to prescribe that is not a penicilin I let him off the hook and suggested biaxin. I just love PAs-they know so little (there are exceptions to that my last PA was awesome) but they take direction so well.
So, I am a little under the weather today-actually the infection has made all my joints hurt, and I never got my blood work done but other than that life is good.

hi...in addition to the virus type thing, my knee has been acting up. i am set up for three shots of synvisc injection starting next week. hope it works out and i'll be dancing in the streets!

Joan, good luck with those injections I hope they offer you a lot of relief and you do end up dancing in the streets.

Sj...that is so true about the antibiotics!! I have never hear of the one you mentioned..I always get the Celphelexin and I fantastic yeast infection along with them!! I will have to ask about that brand the next time around...btw..are you a nurse or in the health care field?

So, I got my B12 and Folate labs back and the Folate is normal but the B12 is low.  I'm waiting for the nurse to call back on ways to get more B12..and maybe that will get my rbc count back up to normal.  Other than that just feeling really tired and run down.  I already try to make sure I eat a lot of yogurt etc and I take a supplement so it will be interesting to see how much more B12 I can get eyes

Momto3-I am not a nurse but my job dove tails the health care field-I am a behavior specialist so I am on the interdisciplinary team that is responsible for the overall well being of over 200 people with mental retardation-I am often the only one on the team with enough education, knowledge and experience to be aware of possible side effects and behavioral changes with different drugs. I often advise psychiatrists as to what medications might be best used with certain individuals.
So when I get sick or am prescibed a new med I have a PDR and a nurse's drug reference on my desk at work and can look up all possible drug interactions and side effects-my rhuemy tells me I read too much.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
