Feels like pin pricks along my spine

I don't know what's wrong.
It feels just like someone is sticking pins in my neck
and my tail bone.
I guess it's the Scoliosis.
The sharp pains are probably Osteophytes.
It better get better pretty soon....
Sleeping would be unthinkable.
Maybe TV and an ice bag on this cold windy night.
My pain is always with me.
It NEVER goes away.
For this reason, I usually hang out on the Chronic Pain Board.
But this problem is so specific to Arthritis.

Pamela,it could be nerve pain . Are you on any nerve medcine lyrica and neurontin are good medcine for nerve pain. I am sorry you are feeling so bad I hope the pain eases up soon. I hope you have a lpd.

I get the same thing happen to me. Sometimes I get sudden, quick pin-prick sensations in other areas, as well...like the side of my head, my arms, legs, and my back. This sensations is definately nerve-related. It can be caused by many things, though. If you have compression somewhere in your spine, due to things like disk herniations, cysts, osteophytes, etc...those things can press into surrounding nerves and cause nerve symptoms and/or pain.

I have been taking Lyrica since last February to try to control some of this pain. It does definitely help me, though I still get some bouts of severe sciatica and other nerve pains. But it still helps b/c when I was out for several days waiting for a refill, it got worse.

Baybreeze,

I have compression, disk herniations, osteophytes along with my Scoliosis.
I think maybe it doesn't really matter that I know just what it is that bothers
me. I might be better if I didn't try to analyze it. When I fall over or something
I'll know it's time to go for medical care. Bahhhh!
I can't affford Lyrica. I sampled it for three weeks and it didn't do anything.

Kara, I do take Neurontin. I don't know if it helps or not. Have you ever thought
of asking for more and better medication? You deserve it.

Have a lpd ... whatever that is! smilewinkgrin

Pamela,lyrica helped me tremendously but I cant afford it. Lpd is low pain day.

I could no longer afford my Lyrica, nor my other meds since I've lost my job and my basic insurance yearly cap was met. So I looked into all of the prescription assistance programs and ended up being able to get Lyrica directly from Pfizer at no cost. They also have different tiers, some that make more money may have to pay a co-pay or whatever. My other meds, we switched around to higher doses which are available in generic. So my med costs went from over $500 per month down to just $30 per month. Though I do also pay $45/month every 3 months for my generic plaquenil. So it's really worth it to look into these programs. Their income guidelines are usually higher than say Medicaid and government programs.

Seems like we people who have such bad pain have a very difficult time paying
for it.
