Reactive Arthritis ..When will my flare up go away -Ive had inflammed joints for 6 months!

I have Reactive Arthritis, Ive been taking Sulfasalzine 3000 mg a day for the past 2 months as well as naproxen. Most of the info I have read on the internet says that these "flare ups" usually last for 6 months. Well Ive had a swollen/stiff/achy/hurting  knee , ankle ,  and elbow for almost 6 months. The sulfa has slight effect and Naproxn does make me feel about 40% better when I take it. I will ensure to note  this to my doc when I see him next.. However  since im hitting the 6 month mark im starting to worry that I will never go back to normal.. .I noticed that my ankle ankle and knees inflammation has gone down slightly.. However not the improvement that I was expecting. No where near being able to walk and kneel, bend,excercise normally. Cant even wear my heels.. Anyone here have any experience with your life going back to normal and if so how long ?  WIll I ever be able to kneel again to tie my nieces shoes and run up stairs easily like I used to

Welcome to the forum.

I too support golitho's idea that there are many drugs out there to help you.

With this disease, you need to see your rhumey regularily when it is not in control. He has available some pretty good stuff these days.

All the best to you, and remember, don't sit this disease out, change of plan will work wonders. If you are not happy with your current rhemy. go to another one.
