Hi Jody,
The shingles sound like a nightmare, and I really will encourage my mother in law to get the vaccine. We drove past a Wal Greens that was advertising and she told me they are around 200 or so dollars....she just purchased a hot tub for our anniversary, she is a very generous person and has the financial means to do, however when it comes to taking care of herself? Forget it!!! This is something that just gets the family!!! We tell her all of the time, she needs to take care of herself, do things for herself..nope We love her dearly and worry about her because of this. I hope she does not get the shingles. Now I will worry about my boys getting shingles as well. When my daughter was a toddler, and getting her vaccinations, they had just come out with the chicken pox vaccine and she was just turning two, but your child had to be between 15 and 18 months, anyway I was told she was too old? So she never did get that one. I guess now anyone can get it at any age? She will come up for shots fairly soon and I will ask for it at that time. I would like to get it as well, but I hope I don't get the chicken pox. I don't ever remember having them, and my mother said I never had them.
Having to go off your Enbrel to get the vaccine, that is an iffy situation...especially since you have done so well on it! With your kickboxing
I'm starting to dread the grocery store, and I buy mostly the store brands when possible and I still end up spending the same amount. The kids are home for the summer and it seems my husband eats as much as a teenage boy, so I can't seem to save any money!
about my 17 year old coming for a visit? No, he decided not to come out, he got a job and bought a BMW instead It's all about the image you know! At least in his mind it is anyway. Honestly, I can say he isn't the same boy that left here last summer, he has completley changed. He works and buys all of his own clothes, but what he buys is beyond ridiculous, for what he pays! just a t-shirt is $50 and his tennis shoes are well over a hundred. We wouldn't support his expensive tastes here. To say I'm dissapointed, is an understatement. My daughter went down there for a visit this summer and told her brother all he is doing is helping to support the sweat shops that exploit their workers so that he can look good. She is 12 and the way he is really bothers both his sister and brother, neither of them understand him. He has another year, and then he will be on his own and will have to pay for everything on his own and then he will find out how difficult it is to afford everything that he wants.
I hope your son hears something soon, it just seems as if there are so many applicants per job application. However, our friend did find an office job. I'm not sure if it is a temp postion or what, we will find out this evening, but at least it is something. I know your son is running low on money and that is when it gets scary and stressful, not knowing when something is going to come his way. Bless his heart! I know he is hanging on the best he can. At least he has a wonderful family to help him through this tough time.
I'm glad to hear your friend is beating her cancer! That is great news, and yes she did the right thing by removing her ovaries, although I know it had to be a difficult choice, especially if she is younger. Just knowing that she will be cancer free and will have her life back, I can't imagine what that will be like for her and her family, but I wish her the best! It sounds like you have been a wonderful, caring friend throughout this entire time for her. She is blessed to have you as a friend.
My daughter has been having some issues with kidney stones for awhile and yesterday we took her to see a pediatric urologist who said he only removes stones, and that she needed to see the nephrologist across the hall and they managed to squeeze us in later in the day. It turns out she has hypercalcuria and will need a medication most likely life long, to keep the excess calcium under control. If it isn't one thing, it's another! But hopefully this will keep her from having anymore kidney stones.
I will email you soon, I'm off now to help my sunburned child! She went to a pool party with friends and I sent her with SPF 70 and when I picked her up, she was lobster red Needless to say, that was on Tuesday, and she is still miserable today.
Have a great day!!
