How is everyone?????  I hope some of my old friends are still around and reading...sure do miss all of you so very much.....Ducky, Erin, bear, Yally, Boo, Mom, CaMamma, Raven, Imarrzz,Joan....I know I have forgotten so many..but please forgive me, i just really miss days when we were all here checking in every day or two.  You became my "cyber-family" and it meant so much to me! Not too mention how you all helped me get through the early days of RA.  Don't know what I ever would have done without you.

Florida is, well, its Florida is July....hot, hot, hot.  I think we are doing ok, lots of changes and need for prayer in our family right now.  Youngest son still out of work..nothing promising out there at all for him yet...future daughter-in-law also lost her job recently. (She's with the son who is a teacher)  They have a house together, and right now, no income at all for them until he starts teaching again for the new school year.  Hurts to see your kids hurting, knowing that there isn't a lot you can do to help them!

As for me...just getting over a bout of shingles, on my face no less. I guess I was really forunate, some suffer so horribly with this, but my case wasn't too bad.  Hopefully, I won't suffer the bad after-effects some have had.  I think I remember Joan having a really bad time with this?  Dr said there is a big increase in the number of cases of shingles she has seen lately....wonder why?  Does anyone know if we are more at risk because of our immune system problems? Had to stop my enbrel for a couple of weeks while I was on the anti-virals, and I guess the old saying is true..you don't know what you've got til it's gone!  Boy was I glad to poke myself yesterday! Also had to take a break from exercising and kickboxing    That was really hard!!!                       

We had to change internet providers, once again, so I have a new e-mail.  I updated it in my profile, so if anyone wants to shoot me an e-mail...it's right there for you to access, please, I would love to chat, anytime.  Mom, we have talked about doing that several times and have never gotten it done, so please feel free to contact me!

Still have all the little ones crawling at my feet....though a couple of the older girls will start pre-school in the fall.  Guess that means I'll be looking to start a couple of new babies at that time.  Always kind of nervous to start the interviewing process...but hopefully I'll get some calls.  Things have been a little slow in that department as well.  Would be nice to take things a bit easier for a bit, but...not the time economically to do that.  Guess we all know that, though, right?

Well, dear ones, have  to sign off.  As usual, nap time will be ending way too soon...need to take care of some house things before the little ones pop up their little heads.

Nice to "meet" you, too!   Yes, seems likethings are awfully quiet here, didn't always be like this.  Don't know where everyone else, but I hope they are all ok.  I think I joined a couple of years ago, and then there was a group of us that were on all the time..   Australia?  How cool is that!  From what I have seen you live in a beautiful country..LOVED the movie lol.   Stange to think of anyone having winter weather when we are in the heat of summer here.  But I would gladly trade you a little of our heat for some of your cool, if only I could!

I'm one of the "old" ladies here....my kids are all older, four boys, ages 33,32,30, and 24.  no daughters-in-law or grandkids, yet...but keep hoping.  I do childcare in my home though,  (hence the name "babyplace") have been doing this for almost 22 years. So, building is down in your part of the world,too?  It's terrible in the states..keep hoping things wil pick up.  Shingles are almost gone, thank you for asking.  I have been most blessed from what I gather from others.  I seem to have had a rather mild case, so major pain or scarring.  Have been able to be back on my meds, so that has helped alot.   How are you doing?  How do you like Humira?  My doctor was thinking of switching me to that, we weren't sure the Enbrel was doing all it should....

Jody!!!! Is that really you??  I have missed seeing you here, well you know what I mean! I can't even imagine how hot it must be there in Florida.  Do you have the humidity? It is hot here in Colorado, but when I lived in Kansas it was an entirely different kind of hot, either way, I'm ready for Fall!

I have heard about Shingles going around and have noticed that many of the pharmacies are doing shingles vaccines? I've never had the chicken pox and neither has my daughter, my son's had them at the same time and still my daughter who was two at the time never did get the chicken pox, it was the strangest thing!  I know my mother in law is worried about getting the Shingles, and it sounds so painful, I'm glad you are on the mend! Can you get them more than once?

I'm  so sorry to hear about your son who is out of work, that is the story with so many now We have a couple that we are good friends with and she pretty much just goes from temp job to temp job, whatever they can offer her.  It seems like everyone we know is struggling financially, and we have cut back our spending and going to the grocery store is a shocker! I think groceries are going up each week!

Yes, mom, It really is me!  So sorry that I keep disappearing from time to time..dont mean to, just my life these days.  Yes, the shingle are a real pain..in more ways than one.  From what I understand, once you have had the chicken pox, the virus goes dormant in your spine in one of the nerve trunks.  Then something can kick it into gear, and it shows up as shingles.  I had hoped you couldn't get it more than once, but this is my second go round with it.  First time was about 8 years ago when I had pneumonia.  But, it was on my side, and this time was on my face.  So..leave it to me lol!  There is a shingles vacine, but I don't think you can take it while you're on some of the meds.  A friend of mine had to be off her enbrel for six weeks before she could take it.  Anyway, I certainly would talk to your doc about it though, because golitho is right, it can have some serious complications.  Sometimes permanant nerve damage...mine was near my eye, and they were watching it very closely. I would also really encourage your mother-in-law to check into it as well...I wouldn't wishthis on anyone!  However, one word of caution....my nephew's little boy got the vaccine...and still came down with a mild case of the pox at Christmas time.  He's 2 1/2....and the doc said it isn't that unusal......so......

Boy do I hear you guys about the grocery prices!!! Feeding the daycare kids, and a 24 year-old (think he eats what hubby and I do combined!!) is unbelievable...plus I still like to fix meals and send them to people  once a week or so, and it is getting harder and harder to do.     We sure are changing our menus.

Yes, Florida is brutal right now...we have the air-conditioning bills to prove it!  We put all new super-douper windows in to help with the power bills, but then they went and raised the rates!  Our bills are still higher....seems like we just can't win, ya know?  I just don't know where everybody went....it sure isn't the same here is it?  My son made me a facebook page (haha)..can't believe I'm actually doing this,but it is kind of fun.  A couple of the old gang have contacted me...,if you ever do that stuff, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll send you the info to look me up..it's kind of fun to exchange pictures, etc...

By the way mom, weren't you having your son for a month this summer?  Is he there now?  If so, how are things going?  Think of you so often...remember all too well how painful that path is with those boys!

Our son has a hearing to appeal the denial of his unemployment..that will be next Wednesday.  W are really praying that goes well...he hasn't had one call from all the apps he's put out.  He's getting pretty discouraged, not to mention broke!

My friend with breast cancer finally finished her chemo and radiation.  This week she opted to have her ovaries out so that she could take the best medicine available to keep the cancer at bay.  Not sure abut it all, but something about how her options for treatment were limited because her tumor was estrogen-fed, so this surgery will take care of that. It sure has been a long, long road for her....but she has been AMAZING!  

Golitho, Im so glad you found a forum where there are some regulars!  I only wish that was still the case here!  I can only pray that maybe some of them will see this and stop back in....and i also pray that they are all ok....Please pop in here when you can...at lease mom and I are here for now....and it's so nice that you are too.

Well...I have written my usual book here...I never can write a short post LOL!  Must get ready for bed though..going to the gym really early tomorrow.

Hi again,

Another weekend flew by...now it's Tuesday already...better than monday lol.... We had our normal fast-paced few days.  One of the boys came in for the weekend with yet another girlfriend, but he seems quite smitten with this one, and afterall he is 33 (how did THAT happen??).  Only thing that worries me is that she is only 23....yikes..but seems to be years ahead of herself, and he is not at all a normal 33 yea-old..so maybe they meet in the middle??  Had our whole family over for dinner on Sunday..not even sure of the headcount anymore, must be well over 20.

How's the daughter's sunburn, mom?  Sorry to hear about your boy...gosh. those boys... Some of them just seem to have to take the rough road growing up.  I just know he'll be ok, though, you've given him a solid foundation of good values.  Once he's through all this, he'll come back around, they always do...some just take longer than others. Ours went through all the "brandname coolness" stuff too.  Think alot of that is just all the peer pressure of high school....once they got out of school, it was amazing how many "cool deals" they found at Walmart!  So excited like they found a brandnew thing.  Sure hope the meds work for your girl!  Atleast they found this at a young age, hopefully they will be able to keep it under control..kidney stones are no fun!

Well, the little natives are getting restless here.  Breakfast is over, hope to get them outside to run off some energy if the heat and the bugs aren't  too bad..

It sounds as if your son is trying to find that special girl, and while there is an age gap, if this girl has had the opportunity to go through college, get educated and has an idea of who she is, it may work out just fine.  There was an 8 year age difference between my first husband and myself, I was 17 and he was 24 and we married when I was 18, needless to say, I wasn't ready and he was more like a parent as he would never allow me to go anywhere with friends etc. I think 23 is a much easier age difference, I wish them the best and hope it works out well!  Although, I do have to say from my own personal experience, I met my current husband at 29 and the older you get the easier it is to choose a mate, because you just know yourself and what you are looking for, more so than in your 20's.

My daughter begins her medication on Weds morning and we will monitor her closely and she will most likely be on it life long, but at least she will not be at risk for osteoperosis in her 20's or 30's.  The sunburn was much worse than either my husband or I realized! It was so terrible that it ended up oozing pus Had we of known it was that severe, we would have taken her in the day she actually got the sunburn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so painful, that for the next three days, she could not stand to have any clothes touching her shoulders, I felt like the worst mom ever. On her back, she had white stripes from where she had rubbed the sun screen but I guess missed the rest somehow.  I should have taken her to the party and put the suncreen on her myself, but she is going to 7th grade and told me she was fine, and that I was "hovering".  I get that a lot lately from both kiddo's.  However, after the fact she told me she wished I would have been there.

My oldest son is also into the girls and always has a new one! every week it is a new one and this week, she has piercings (belly button and tongue)  But really what CAN you do? I just sigh and shake my head and yes, while he looks down at places such as Wal Mart and Target, he will eventually end up there, just like the rest of us I really like Target!

Speaking of kids, my 15 year old begins drivers ed today and it goes all day, and he refused to let me pack him a lunch, it would be uncool to be seen with a lunch, so when I pick him, it will be interesting to see how his day went.  I made him eat breakfast, but still...stubborn!!!

How about I trade you one pre-teen plus a 15 year old for your little ones?

Not too much going on around here, for whatever reason I'm having a flare and not sure what brought it on, and my daughter is in 4-H, and we are behind in preparing her projects for fair, so it is a busy week trying to get those wrapped up.  My daughter begins her kidney medication this morning and I'm terrified to give it to her.  She has never really taken any kind of medicine before and this is actually used for congestive heart failure, so I've done enough research to scare myself.  However, it is a case of we don't really have a choice.  Hopefully all will go well and she won't experience any scary side effects.

I really don't have any other moanin except that it is so hot and I'm really looking forward to Fall!

I hope you figure out why you are so tired.  It is no fun being tired! My B12 injection doesn't last the entire month so by the end of the 3rd week, I start to go downhill, and the last week, I have been known to cancel appointments etc because I'm just too tired to drive and I don't have the energy.  So I can sympathize!

My daughter has had some side effects from her Thalitone, but they should subside in a couple of weeks, and she goes Thursday for a bone age/density scan at Children's, after that a couple of more tests and she should be fine for the next 6 months or so.

Not much going around here, but there has been a reported and confirmed case of the swine flu at my daughters gym, so we are hoping that the girl recovers quickly and that no other girls become ill.

I haven't read all of the posts but Camama is getting braces? My daughter has had braces (phase 1) and will have phase II sometime in September.  There was a mom at our school who wore braces and when she got them off, she had beautiful teeth!

Gosh is it only Tuesday?? I had to have a re-treatment of a root canal this morning, that I had done several years ago, it was "failing", so it was a trip to an endodontist.  There is a dentist who specializes in root canals, who knew? I guess you can have a root canal done twice
