Camama...ah yes, the screaming we refer to it as screeching here at our house...you know the never ending..stop it!!!! and don't do that!!! oh and can't forget the leave me alone!!!! My son is famous for waiting until the last minute to look for whatever it is he needs for the day, or he has lost something, still doesn't have socks and shoes on etc My husband usually has the pleasure of driving them in and it will be 5 minutes until it is time to scoot out the door and there my son is wet hair down to his chin, literally carrying his shoes to the car. I think to myself maybe this year now that he will be a sophmore, there might be hope!

It sounds like you over did it just a bit with the cleaning, especially 3 days worth! But I know sometimes there is no choice but to get it done.  I'm sorry you are sore but I know what you mean, I'm still sore from the stress of my daughters 4-H baking marathon.  We had a difficult time getting her bread to rise and we were up until 1am, and then back up at 6am, and I've been in a flare ever since.  I would ask if there is anyway you could get some rest, but with camping gear and laundry, I guess I won't Maybe hubby will help?

Hi All! New here, but not new to RA. I was on Enbrel for years and switched to Cimzia - had my first injection today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I take 'C' everyday as I also have Sjogren's and have had gum surgery 3 times - the 'C' helps to prevent that. I also feel better when I take it as well as 'B' vitamins. I've considered getting B-12 shots as well.

I'm also in Florida and a 53 year old Mom to a 15 year old boy starting school on the 12th of August as a sophomore. Active in my PTO but no longer as an officer - I get too tired. My fatigue comes in waves; I'm fine for weeks but then will have several days where, usually in the afternoons, I get so incredibly tired so quickly that I must lie down and boom! - I'm asleep for 3-4 hours. Hate that.

Camama..I'm glad your house is in order, that is no small feat when you have RA. As for the vitamin C, I say give it a try if it makes a difference, anything that works is worth a go around! and if the chewables work, they work! I used to get the chewable zippy zoo's for my daughter and then when she stopped using them, my husband started taking them and he loves the chewable zippy zoo's.  If you feel even a slight improvement  on the vitamin C, I say take it!

I'm back on a calcium supplement since my daughter's dexa scan came back with a severe case of osteopenia, I'm really trying to incease my calicium and hers.

Golitho...I know what you mean by the pills, I take the MTX and it is all I can do to swallow the 8 pill each week! I also wish this would just go away.  Last weekend, we went to visit my inlaws, and my mother in law asked me if my RA would ever go away and I had to tell her no

Welcome Mamarama..I've never heard of your medication, I will have to look into that.  I'm always looking for something that I can take and have not tried.  I have megaloblastic anemia and have been taking B12 injections for about 3 months now, they are much better if you are unable to absorb the pill form. I  understand what you mean by being so tired!!!!!!!!! Not even my B12's are helping me right now, I could just sleep and sleep.

Not much to moan about other than a flare I can't seem to get out of.  This is the first time in a very long time that I actually have the fever that people talk about when they are flaring. My knees hurt and hips feel as if they are on fire.  It is one week before we fly to PA for our family vacation and I'm starting to panic just a bit!  I may have to call the rheumy and see if I can get some pred or something.

Golitho..I know you mentioned getting into shape and you are riding your bike? that is fantastic news!! I know that it is slow going, my husband and I take this weight training class together and yesterday the instructor did our body fat count, and mine was higher than I had expected but as soon as I get out of this flare, it is back on the treadmill.

Cimzia is very much like Enbrel - I started Enbrel almost as soon as it was released and have been on it for several years. I don't like pre-filled syringes but, it wasn't too bad. The stuff is so thick, though!

I thought yesterday was the start of a bad flare but I feel okay today. As to the 'fever' some get, I never have but my older sister also has RA (she was diagnosed at 27) and for the last few years she always has a low grade fever - they say it's the RA doing it.

I ran out to the store and when I got home, I needed a shower. This is heat of Biblical proportions!

The Enbrel worked wonderfully for years but, for the past year, I had begun to feel that my RA was getting worse. My fibro was out of control as well. Saw a new RA doc who ran a bunch of tests and concluded that my Ra wasn't necessarily getting worse, but that the Enbrel might not be working as well for me any longer. Seems that your body can produce an antibody to the protein in Enbrel and he suspects that's what's happening with me. My test results were those of someone under no treatment at all - unlike test results from a year before, showing me very well controlled.

Cimzia is very much like Enbrel, but, the protein is just different enough that the antibody won't recognize it. Eventually, the antibody 'turns off'. Of course, eventually, assuming the Cimzia works and I stay on it, I may develop an antibody to it as well. But if that happens, hopefully, I can either go back on the Enbrel or there will be a new drug available.

Enbrel, Cimzia, Humira and one or two others all have 'black box' warnings but, if not for them, I'd be in bed, in pain, 24/7. I can't use Methotrexate and no other meds, including Arrava and Humira did anything for me.

Jody..I agree..you raise them, send them out into the world and hope for the best! After that it is up to them and only they can make choices for themselves. My husband tells me I'm having a difficult time letting them grow up and I know this is true. I would like them to stay little forever.  We have been getting so much rain here too, and not that I'm complaining, normally we are always hot and dry, to the point of a draught. Although, I'm ready for cooler weather and Fall

I noticed that you are on Plaquenil and Enbrel, that is a good combo to be on.  I really miss the Plaq, and fear I may need to get back on something like the Enbrel.  I'm having a bad case of joint pain to the point I can hardly lift my leg to use my break peddal in my car, so its off to the rheumy later this morning.  I tried the urgent care yesterday but they said to try ibuproferen.

I do have a question for those of you who are on MTX or have been in the past? I've been on it for a few years now, and I was diagnosed with the megaloblastic anemia, which is the low B12 and I'm pretty sure it has been caused by the MTX, has anyone else had this happen??? I went to urgent care for my joint pain, and they ran lab work and my CBC came back with very low rbc, so the B12 shots aren't helping.  I'm afraid that the MTX is really doing me in I know the MTX is toxic but I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to take it as a treatment.

Made it to Tuesday!!!  I know I complain about this all the time ...but gosh I wish the weekends didn't go by quite so fast!  Friday takes so long to get here, then it seems you take a breath and it's Monday again...sigh....

Only three little ones today , seems like a mini-vacation after having five yesterday.  But, did get some good news, one of the families I interviewed is bringing their baby to me, not until late October or early Novemeber, but at least I know I have one of my empty spots filled. Will be different to have an infant in the house again, been two years since I've one that small.  May be nice after all these busy toddlers!

Did I tell you that my son finally got his unemployment?  Yea!  I was so nervous about it, but he did win his appeal hearing.  Now he is all signed up for school, starts a program for basic x-ray tech in about two weeks.  It's almost a 7 month program, but they have a 95% placement rate, so we have high hopes for this..He and his girl plan to get married next September, so he will have a good start on a career if al goes well. The older son (the teacher) and his girl entered a contest this weekend for a dream wedding at a very cool place near us...they find out Aug 31st if they won...that would be such a blessing!!

Spent the last two weekends with my brother's 12 year-old daughter trying to get her school clothes...oh my, .do I ever know why God gave me sons!!!!   Those girls are tough!!  Thankfully, my model-gorgeous future daughter-in-law came with me and helped so much..that young girl hung on every bit of advice she gave, while I just didn't know ANYTHING...except how to pay for it all..lol.   My brother is a single dad and the kids mom is not around..they need some kind of help and guidence...felt I needed to help somehow...My niece is a big girl, and gets teased alot in school because of her size.  I'm praying that if she has some nice, in-style things, that she will feel better about herself, and that maybe that will help with the peer pressure.  Life is so hard in middle school...don't know how any of us made through that akward time...yuck. 

mamarama (gosh I LOVE that name ha), school doesn't start here until the 25th,  and though I don't have any school-age kids, my neices and nephews are actually looking forward to getting back to school.  My son, who is a teacher, is not! LOL...  Hard for me to imagine anyone calling our climate "moderate" here right now...it is HOT!!  haha...but One of my older sons was in the Navy at Jacksonville, and he always complained about the weather there.  One of ;the kids went to college in Tallahassee.. I loved it there!  Thought it was gorgeous, and almost had some change of seasons...not just hot and hotter!

Well time for lunch here...then NAPS!!  Yea!!

Hey everyone, I'm back! I survived an insane week with my sister and her family here for a week. It went rather well...I was a bit worried with the length of time and amount of people here. Whew!

Welcome mamarama! I get the fatigue in waves also. I also take a b-complex vitamin daily...doesn't always help. I don' t know why the c helps..I'll have to do some research..was just wondering if anyone knew the connection, maybe it's just the difference of a depleted level in my system? I think I need to boost it this week b/c I think last week wore me down and I have been sneezing a lot, along with a occasional cough and chest icks going on now...UGH.

School starts on the 20th for us, and I'm actually NOT looking forward to it. LOL....my daughter is an absolute pain in the morning, and not being a morning person myself, it is difficult to deal with her idiosyncrasies at 6 a.m. and get myself ready for work at the same time. I guess the right thing to do would be to get up at 5 and get myself ready before having to wrestle her in the morning....but she's 9 1/2 and I think it time I should be able to sleep a little, right? or is that a terrible mom thing to say?

I better get back to work...sorry I can't reply to all the posts right now...I did read them.

Hi all, Joan I'm sorry I can't help. My good friend had his hip replaced and is a different person, even runs on it. All surgery is daunting, hopefully some one will have the experience to give you better advice.
I agree with daughter/ son shopping. My daughter has to try on everything in the store and can take hours to make up her mind, while my sons like a colour and buy it! Soccer boots have to be comfortable but for my daughter it's how they look too!!! She is 16 on the 15th, so I think the tricky years may be upon me!!!
We're still in winter in Sydney but Sunday it's forecast to be really hot!!! Something very strange has happened to the weather....golitho

How is everyone?  Hope you are all well...enjoying the last days of summer!    Joan!!!  I'm so sorry I missed you, hope you'll check back in!   I'm so sorry to hear about your hip problems...have known several people who have had that done, as a matter of fact my 9o year-old aunt is having one tomorrow!  

MOm..are you on vacation?  Think I remember reading that you were getting ready to go somewhere.  Anyway, it was my neice I was shopping with...no grandbabies for me yet...:(  Kids don't seem to be in any hurry for that.  Last weekend I took my nephew shcool shopping (brother of the same girl I shopped with before)  What a difference!!!!  He was so sweet and thankful, no attitide at all! But, never thought I would say this...I hope I don't have to set one foot in a mall, for a long, long, time!  I am done!  

Sounds like you have Florida weather heading your way, golitho!  Mamamra, did you guys miss the storms?  Hopefully Ana and Bill will skirt around us!

everything about the same here..this is the last week for one of my daycare girls..a very precocious 4 yr old.  She is so ready for pre-school, but I have had her for 3 years...I really hate this part!  Next week is the last week for another one of them, will be a very emtional time for me!  I do have a really nice couple bringing a baby to me, but it won't be until the end of October or first of Novemeber....have to see how things go between now and then...big income loss.

have been doing a little instructing this week for the resistence bands class at the place I take kickboxing....yikes...I feel so lame!!  So different to take the class than to actually lead it!  Owners are on a well-deserved vacation until Monday, so am helping to fill in. 

Did anyone get onto facebook yet?  Let me know if you do..I've really had a good time there, much to my surprise.  Reconnected with some old friends from high school, plus some of the past people from here...

gotta to run, I guess. Breakfast is over, so it's time for some outside play..rain heading in tomorrow it looks like, so better take advatage of this while we can...

Camama...I know what you mean with the start of school etc, I seem to meet myself coming and going! This is the second week and I think I'm finally getting some kind of routine going..It's tough getting back into the swing of things that is for certain! Sorry to hear about the heat, hopefully Fall is right around the corner for all of us

Camama...I've been super tired even with the B12 injections, but I find if I pack lunches the night before, and set up the coffee pot, it makes it much easier.  Now, if I can just keep this going, we will see Thankfully, both kids have been fairly easy to deal with (so far) and the only thing we need to work on with my 15 year old is get him an alarm as we are still waking him up each morning.
