Hi LW, I think I already told you that it took me 3 terrible months to recover from pneumonia. I had endless cycles of antibiotics just to get my chest clear, then while I was still on antibiotics caught pleuracy(not sure of spelling) plus because I had no humira or mtx developed costochondritis. I had to sleep sitting up my chest was in so much pain, it hurt to breath let alone cough. I needed about
5 shots of cortisone into hot points in my ribs, mountains of prednisone to settle all the inflammation. Energy wise it took me months to recover fully, I remember doing small walks trying to build up my stamina, every day going that bit further. Plus I was told walking is good for pneumonia. I could only manage walks on the flat.
But I did get better, my chest has been brilliant since, no more costochondritis once I got back on all my meds! My energy returned. so hang in there, you will suddenly find you can do that little bit more.
If you're flaring you may need a course of prednisone to get you over the hump. I'd ring your rheumy and ask or even your local doctor. If you're over the pneumonia why won't they restart yourmeds? Mine were restarted as soon as possible, I remember my knees being so swollen in the hospital I was shuffling to get to the bathroom!
Try and enjoy the little things in your day. Have a coffee with a friend. Sit with the sun on your face. It is terribly depressing, I remember thinking it would never end.
Coming off meds always throws you, it will take awhile to regain your balance. Just keep hold of the good things and slowly but surely you will mend.
Best wishes, golitho
