TNF drugs effectiveness life span?

Hi,
I was on embrel and humera for two years each. They worked ok....but less and less. I am on cimzia and it is working great and better than the other two ever did.

It seems that alot of the posts show others use the drugs as well for up to two years. Has anyone had longer lasting results with any of them ? Has anyone had remission?

Ps....I have RA now for 15 Years.

I have been on Enbrel for four years now - worked brilliantly from the beginning and still going strong. Fingers crossed (if I could!) Not sure if I am in remission, but it feels like it.

wow. I love the word remission! It is my favorite word in the world. I'm so happy for you.

I think the Cimzia will do that for me. Embrel was good but I still needed prednisone. Now it looks like I can stop the prednisone soon. I'm so excited for the relief.

One of my doctors has been on humira for over 10 years, she says its given her her life back, she feels 10 years younger on it.
I haven't heard about them only lasting 2 years tnat doesn't sound right to me.
Maybe James will come along and give us the science behind it?

Thank you for the responses. I'm grateful for the tnf meds we have available to us. I think the twoA-year thing was a comment or two that I read. I believe most peoples' comments indicate long relief. Cimzia is really working for me. I hope to be off prednisone for the first time in 15 years. Wow.

I don't think anyone knows how long they last or why they work longer periods for some people and shorter for others. I have seen people who have built up antibodies to Remicade in as short as a few months but I've also seen people using Remicade for 5+ years without any problems. It seems to be very individual.

Am I the only person in the world that didn't seem to be helped at all by these drugs. I'm still taking Cimzia, but none of them really made me feel much better. Its hard to know, because sometimes I'll feel good for a day or two, and I'll think, "Its working". But then I start feeling just as bad as before taking anything.

I have read that some people develop antiboides to the TNF drugs, and that is why the drugs eventually stop working. Not everyone develops these antibodies, or so I have read. For those who develop antibodies to a biologic drug, switching to another biologic usually works for them.
