Could Enbrel be causing allergic reactions to inSect bites?

Hello all , I am a newbie, living in France and I have been 'using' Enbrel for 4 years for RA - very successfully. I have found it wonderful and I wish everyone could try it! Anyway, over the last 2 years or so I have found that every time I get an insect bite I get what appears to be an allergic reaction - lots of swelling and pain and sometimes blisters over quite a large area around the bite. I am wondering if this may have anything to do with the Enbrel. For the first two years of taking it I was in the UK - not so many bites there! Anybody had a similar experience? Perhaps it's because of a suppressed immune system?

Jo, thank you for that - I was beginning to think it was just me! My reactions to bites are really quite severe. Our local pharmacist (they are very good here in France) is very sympathetic and advises me on the most severe reactions. My stepdaughter who is a nurse says they are definitely allergic reactions. I take anti-histamines and use a mild hydrocortisone cream to relieve the pain and irritation and sometimes also slap on some calamine cream for good measure when it becomes really sore. Yes, I am left with a scar or mark too.usually.
Just have to live with it I guess - better than RA in full flight. Or maybe I could just wear a wet suit all day... there's a thought....
