Has anyone experienced this type of pain in their hand?

HI Guys! I was hoping you could help me with something. I was diagnosed with RA in Oct 2009 and generally my medication of methotrexate has been very successful and I've had only limited flares thankfully. Lately however, I have been experiencing a very strange sensation in my right hand. It began about two weeks ago when I felt as if I had bruised the back of my hand and wrist. The veins on the back of my hand were also very pronounced and there was a difference in temperature where it felt very warm. I thought I'd maybe hit my hand without noticing and thought nothing of it. Then, about a week ago I woke up in the middle of the night because the back of my hand and fingers felt really hot and swollen. (there was no visable swelling when I looked).  I was also having pain from my middle and ring fingers where if I touched them at all I got a burning shooting pain that went down the centre of the back of my hand and in to my wrist. It went away after 5 minutes or so, however its been happening every day now and more often. It seems to be very sudden pain in my two knuckles and between my fingers that shoots into my wrist. Does anyone have any ideas? It feels like the blood is bubbling through the veins and they go warm and very pronounced. It also seems to happen when I'm at rest rather than active- every night it has woken me up from my sleep. :-( I don't know if its the arthritis, or nerve pain or what. I also had a blood clot in my leg last year- so it could be something to so with the veins- I just don't know. I don't want to bother my doctor but I don't see my Rheumy for another 8 weeks. If anyone has had a similar pain please let  me know- its so strange and I'm sorry that I can't explain it better.

hey huys- thanks for the support. I booked an appointment to see my doctor but its not until the end of next week. I will let you know how it goes and if they give me any answers. It may be because I had to stop my anti-inflammatory due to it giving me stomach problems so hopefully they can give me something else to help manage the pain.
