    hi everyone,

    last nov. i was diagnosed with  inflammitory arthritis in my foot. it was extremely painful and i couldnt walk for at least a week. i wason crutches and meds for the extreme pain.

   i've noticed thru the past year it accured in my knees (had to get a cortisone shot in one of them) for that.

   now its in my hand. cry i am just wondering why it moves around the body to different areas? i'm still new to the disease and am curous.

   i take indomethacin for the stiffness, joint pain and swelling. i also am on remicade for my ulcerative colitis which i thought helped with arthritis. so i'm confused.

   sorry for length of the message. thanks in advance for any advice.

Inflammatory arthritis? Rheumatoid arthritis is joint inflammation.... It moves around the body, because RA is an auto immune disease, it doesnt recognize the body's good cells and attacks it, so basically it commonly starts in the feet, then can go to hands o other main joints like knees, elbows ect, cause main joints have synovial lining to protect the joint from being bone on bone, but the body can't recognize the lining and attacks it, causing swelling and extreme pain and end result if not treated right and fast deformity in the joint.

Thanks so much Kayls75, i'm going to call my rheumatologist tomorrow to schedule an appt. i'm pretty scared. not used to all this pain off and on. especially in my hands.

No worries, unfortunately at 15, the dr I saw was a #%^*£€, and ignored my complaints of pain, I got treated a year and a half later for RA, I'm 36 now, and have had 2 feet reconstructions, a knee replacement, stabilizing pins put in my toes and a synovialectomy on my hands which also need to be reconstructed. So my advice is seek answers ASAP, and second opinions are can't hurt. Also, before taking all the lovely drugs they recommend, ask for side effects and long term complications from them, I almost lst the ability to have a baby, so check and cover all your bases, the medication helps with one problem but causes another.

P.s if your joints are swollen and painful, that is when damage is occurring, my joints don't hurt that much anymore if at all, but they are damaged big time. So get help fast.
Ive been on everything, had RA for 22 years, on methotrexate, humira injections, prednisone, voltaren, and many other things to balance the issues these meds cause.

thanks so much kayls75. i'm 39 and this is all fairly new to me. i had my first flair up a year ago nov. i also have ulcerative colitis which is
inflimation of my colon. so it hasnt been fun.

Maybe do a google search on inflammatory arthritis, to see what that yields...
maybe you can find more help and a better explaination of it...Many well wishes to you
and I hope your UC goes into remission soon....It's so hard when your dealing with
more than 1 ailment and I hope your feeling better soon...maybe look into some supplements like Omega-3
might help....and if you start on methotrexate ask about folic acid supplements...
