Cramps In Feet

Speaking of feet, does anyone get these annoying, painful cramps?  If I point my toe into my shoe...cramp or otherwise.  The areas between the bones actually feel "gushy" or "squishy" during these cramp times.  Not sure if it is caused by RA or Diabetes or both.  I fill a hot water bottle 3/4 with hot water and roll my feet back and forth on it while standing which seems to work.  

I also get cramps in my fingers and thumbs when reading a book or newspaper.  I don't think it is trigger finger because they clamp against the other finger.  My fingers do not clamp down and lock on my palms.

My hands, I just put in warm water and massage them.  No lack of potassium here.  Thanks.

I wonder if the heat from a parafin wax bath might help your feet,...maybe worth a look
at getting one to see...hope your feeling better soon...many well wishes...

The best thing for cramping is a magnesium supplement. You can get one called "crampeze" or just take straight magnesium. I don't take it all the time just a couple if I start cramping and it works a treat for me.

The wax!  That brings good and bad memories back.  I do remember it making my hands feel better when I was younger.  I also remember that I was distracted by our little Kids yelling in another room and I started our house on fire because I left the wax unattended.  Scary!  I think my feet would appreciate the wax therapy though.  I'll try that again when I am by myself.

Magnesium sounds like a good idea too.  Perhaps I am not getting enough.  Hopefully it will work for me also.

Hi Ms. Ouchie...I have not gotten these in my feet, but over the weekend I had a horrible flare, and had the cramping in my upper thigh/legs. It is back to a certain extent and I am not sure what causes it either! Sorry no advice or help on my part! but you are not alone in strange/odd symptoms. Speaking of lack of potassium, nope I normally put two each morning into my protein shake so it can't be that either. Maybe the magnesim as Golitho suggested.

Ouch!  That sounds bad also.  I haven't had a cramp in my thigh(s).  I wonder what that is from.  Geez.  The only thing I can think of would be statins, if you take them.  Stupid flares to eh?  Always something.  That's okay Mom.  Doctors don't know all the answers either.  I tried some extra magnesium yesterday but I still got the foot cramps in the evening.  Perhaps more is needed.  I'll keep trying.  My hubby is suppposed to pick me up some wax also.   I'm thinking fatique is a part of the cramping cause too.  Ack!  I just saw my Rheumy last week and forgot to ask him about it. rolleyes

Hi Ms.Ouchie..still having the pain? Gosh not sure either! I don't take a statin, not really sure what that is for either. I am wondering if these issues are caused by fatigue as you mentioned? Since mine cropped up after one of my overnight shifts, and then I didn't come home and go to bed, but instead had appointments that day, staying up and finally getting to bed at around 10pm that night.  That entire day my legs hurt something awful. Maybe staying up 24plus hours caused it, are you not getting enough rest??

That happens to me often, I will have questions for the rheumy and remember *ater* my appointment! Can you call the nurse?

Mom, it helps to write down the questions for the rhuemy and take them with you. I had several questions I wanted to ask my rhuemy so I wrote them down and took it with me. I found out some things were not as important as they seemed at the time.

If i bend my ankle and my other foot rests on my big toe, my big toe gets a charlie horse and hurts so bad. It's always the same toe.
