Hello itsallgood,
I was recently put on plaquenil like 5 days ago and had to stop taking it, I was on 200mg X2 daily. Since I was coming off Tramadol I ignored the weird issues for two days. This morning I called my rhuemy and told the nurse about my swollen burny, itchy tongue and my nose and butterfly rash sweating. No more plaquenil for me...boooo it was supposed to have been a good drug for me (I have RA and SLE). I hope you have a decent enough relation with your rhuematolgist or at least his office to call when you have questions. this site is very good about helping out. Don't be afraid to look online about the drug issues. That's how I found my itchy tongue was not a good sign.lol
Cellophanemanghost, I believe you are right about taking into consideration of a person's build, my doc started doing that for me when I was on methotrexate during my second month on it.
As for my dealing with plaquenil, I noticed some changes about being able to move with out too much pain in the first 8-10 hours. Probably rare but, I have a high metabolism and am rather on the thin side. It would've been nice to have been able to stay on it, since I am weird about drug tolerances and my specific issues with my diseases, I do not have many options.
I would suggest doing the eye exam. If anything it'll give you a baseline of your eyes for future issues. I now have fuzzy vision more than likely from the methotrexate.
I hope you fare better than me on it!!!
GOOD LUCK
