swollen feet

went to rheumi because of swelling in feet along with pain.  also, have knee pain and wrist and thumb pain.  have been on 12.5 mg of methotrexate and rheumi up it to 17.5 mg per week.  he said it is from my ra but also could have water retention in the feet.  i take  25 mg of hydrochlorothazide daily and asked if this should be increased and he said i should ask my primary doctor, even though he is the one that put me on hydrochlorothazie.  just trying to find out if any one has had swollen feet and water retention at the same time, and, if you did what did you do for it? he also said if this uping of methtrexate doesn't work, i should think about remicade infusion. please let me know your thoughts.  thanks.

swelling mostly on top of toes and around ankles. very sensitive on bottom of feet when walking.  i'm kinda confused on the water retention and ra.  how do you tell the difference? i know for sure i have ra because sed rate was very high.  i'm just hoping the uping of the methotrexate will help with swelling and pain, then i won't have to worry about water retention. i will try the icing at night. thanks for responding.
