Hi just wondering after seeing a current affairs shows if Anyone in Australia know about or been affected by the new rules? Cracking down on Disability Pensions ? cutting people off or changing eligibility criteria ?

As I worry and stress over everything and when I heard this, I immediately panicked, with a heap of what if's. But if anyone has any info that would be great.

Sorry Bad, I know they are going to revisit who is elligible but I don't know the exact new criteria. Surely you would still qualify?
No doubt we will find out soon enough.

Hi I found a site that gave the "point score" and yes I do seem to be within it

but I guess its the last thing we all need to Prove we can't work

I'm sure there are a lot of other ways the government can find money to save

I went thru So much when I originally applied put thru the wringer I just cant face

going thru that again especially now as im heaps worse now and So Tired

I've applied for disability twice and have been rejected, due to changes in the eligibility requirements that the Labor government brought in, I think they came in to effect last year. When you are assessed, your condition is measured against their charts and given a point score. BUT - what you and your Doctor may think your score is, I have found, can be completely different to what they think your score is. As far as I'm aware once you are on the pension, then any participation requirements etc are voluntary.

Thank You virtualterror I Hope you are able to get on pension I was originally rejected also then I saw a specialist that helped, I was actually told:

 I couldn't get pension because I (at that time)didn't have a definite diagnosis so I had to go on sickness benefit then couldn't stay on that after a little while so next choice was unemployment But I couldn't go on that cos I had to sign a paper saying I was fit for work ! 

so I was in limbo for a long while by the time I got on pension I had used Every Cent of my savings

 I am trying not to stress I think because RA is so changeable you always feel the need to validate yourself. but who knows what will happen now with the change in government I think whoever is in power if they see a way to save a buck they will regardless of who they walk on to do it.

I know what you mean. Getting out of the car with my disabled sticker I can feel myself being stared at. I feel like shouting at people to mind their own business I'm in pain. I look young and healthy but the pain in my feet, knees and hips mean I can't walk far. We need a sticker on. Our foreheads saying beware pain on board.
I hope you have no hassle bad day. Of course you should qualify with no questions asked. Don't you hate bureaucracy?
