Good Morning,
My name is Laura and I am new to the website. I was dx with RA about 5 yrs ago. I've been on Metheltrexate and prednisone. In February I started using Humira. Interestingly, the Humira "cured" me from the waist up. I was sooo happy. However within months I began complaining of what I thought was hip pain. Recently (last month or so) I began to have difficulty walking. Finally, I could barely make it from my car across the parking lot into the office. I went to see my doctor last Thursday. he put me off work for a week. BTW, my labs show I'm fine. We suspect the Humira. He immediately saw it was a muscle problem and not RA. Has anyone experienced anything like this EXTREME weakness in the legs while on Humira? Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to HealingWell, I also had trouble with Humira
I had problem with my left hand. My doctor took me off Humira
and now I am on Enbrel no more problem with the left hand.
You may have to switch meds.

Sounds scary. Was it a reaction to the Humira? Or don't they know? Hope you recover soon. Or was it just a flare?

I also had problems with Humira. After the first week, my feet starting hurting so bad and burned. I could barely walk. The doctor said it didn't have anything to do with Humira but after researching, I found that it can cause Peripheral Neuropathy. I now take Neurontin which really helps. I am no longer on Humira but take Xeljanz instead. I have only been on it for a couple of weeks so too early to tell if it helps. I agree, you probably need to switch meds.

Thanks everyone who responded to my questions about Humira.
It may be a little to early to tell if it was/is the Humira. I've been off work today for a week and I'm doing better. My commute in Los Angeles is anywhere from 1-1.5 hrs each way everyday and I know that it wasn't helping the situation. When looking at some of the side effects I now wonder if some of my night sweats may have bee the Humira and my peripheral neurophathy had also increased so I had to increase my Gabapentin dose for 300 to 600mg. The good stuff I found in the Humira research is that the half life is 10-20 days. My thought is that I should be feeling MUCh better in another few days
