Side effect of Orencia? Arm + Leg pains, RA nurse says maybe Fibro.

Hi all. I asked the RA nurse when I was having my 4th Orencia infusion yesterday about the persistent pain I was having in my arms and legs. The pain is in the whole of the arms and sometimes in the lower legs. It is constant and feels like a ‘deadleg’ pain. It stops me from falling asleep easily and often wakes me up. She suggested I get in touch with my RA doc as it could be Fibromyalgia but I am really hoping it is a side effect of the drug that may recede with time. Anyone have any similar symptoms? Hi I would get into see your Rheumy doctor and let them now
about the pain you are having. Hoping its not a side effect from the
Orencia. Keep us updated.

Hi teddybearweiser, thanks for your response to my Orencia post. I guess since yours is the only reply, even though 321 have read it, that means the pain in my arms and legs is not a common side effect of Orencia. Maybe not a side effect at all. I am finding it difficult to contemplate adding another disease to my list. I think I'll give it a chance to go away before I ring the RA doc. My next appointment is in December. Thanks again. Hello again. Was diagnosed with fibromyalgia today. Very down. How do people cope with being so sick all the time. RA and Fibromyalgia are so similar that I don't even know what's hurting me half the time. I feel overwhelmed. I was trying to taper off prednislone because it was causing so much trouble with my diabetes but I cant face that now. Neenaa

Hello. Hmmmm? I am also on Orencia infusions. I have been having pain in my left arm as well. Like I can't get it in a comfortable position and it starts to ache? More so when I am driving. I guess I need to let my RA doc know about it. But I just figured they would call me if my blood results came back with something new so I just let it go. I was diagnosed 10 months ago.

As far as I know Fibromyalgia doesn't show up in blood tests so there may have been nothing to call you about. My RA Doc diagnosed me after 'interviewing' me during a consultation. Your description of not being able to 'get it in a comfortable position and it starts to ache' is very familiar to me but I believe Fibromyalgia pain is experienced both above and below the waist. Maybe you should mention to your family doctor that you are experiencing pain in your left arm. That might be a sign of heart issues. My RA Doc said she had never come across pain in the limbs as a side effect of Orencia. Good luck. Neenaa
