PMS and Flare ups?

HI guys,
I was wondering if they get more aches and pains and/or flare ups right before their period? This past week everything was sore especially the muscles in my arms, hips, neck etc.. I Haven't been that sore in a while. Maybe my body getting used to my meds dosage? I'm not sure.
My rhuemy doctor is building my system up to take 400mgs of Plaquenil, i had to basically start over because I got vertigo before.
Any ideas would be great! TIA

I didn't but I know that estrogen plays some part in the inflammation process as when I lost my ovaries my joint pain became unbearable until I went on an HRT (low dose estrogen only) so the hormones play some role but I'm not medical I don't know exactly.
Ask your doctor next time or google. May be you need something more than just plaquenil, I think thats a fairly mild med isn't it? I know it spun me out, I couldn't take it.
I'm now on methotrexate which also took me some time to adjust to but its really controlled my swelling, also on humira which is one of the biological meds available when the others don't work so well.

That would make a very good question to ask your Rheumy about. I wouldn't be surprized if it did have effects on our monthly cycles...Maybe another medication could be added in when your on your cycles to help better, but do bring it up at your next appointment.

A big yes to that question!!!

Before I was put on Methotrexate,
my RA was always worse starting about 3 days before my period and lasted about 2 days after my period has started. In total for about a 5 days, there was increased inflammation in all my affected joints. I do not know why this was, since RA is an autoimmune disease. Since I have been on Methotrxate, I don't have flares monthly anymore.
