Thrush anyone?

I have thrush in my mouth and have been on medication for it and it is still here flamed up.

Anyone been here? Help!

Hi yes get it a lot, what medications are you on? it could be related also check your temperature to be sure no fevers , have you tried Nilstat that tends to fix mine otherwise home remedied till you get to a doctor is Bicarb in a little water swish around

I constantly have thrush and yeast infections in my finger nails. I've lost almost all of the actual nails and in times of stress the thrush is so prevalent in my mouth that I hate socializing with people now because I'm afraid they may notice it. I've tried all the home remedies, nystatin, magic mouthwash and diflucan 200mg x twice a day only to have a doctor tell me that my thrush is resistant to diflucan and other azole drugs. The fact that the thrush just keeps getting worse and more and more noticeable has really affected my mental state. There must be something else I can try???

They gave me a yellow liquid but nothing went away. I am on ten mg of prednisone. I am on it because the enbrel and methotrexate don't work on their own. I get afraid that it will spread around since my body can't fight it.

Oil of oregano. It is a natural anti fungal, antibiotic and anti inflammatory. You can take a supplement or buy the oil to use externally.

I would cut all sugars out of your diet completely. Someone correct me here if I am wrong but thrush and yeast infections thrive off of sugar correct? Also as watergirl14 said, oil of oregano has helped my mom deal with this. Hope you feel better!

Not sure if this will be helpful but taking antibiotics can give you a yeast infection, I am not sure about the thrush. Probiotics can really help put back the good gut flora that the antibiotics kill.

Thrush eradication (temporary) - I have been on a regimen of antibiotics and developed thrush in my mouth. I was prescribed NYSTATIN three / four times a day with 1 - 2 teaspoons each time and at the higher concentrations it provided some relief. What I also found worked was cranberry juice (the 100% no sugar variety - I like R. W. Knudsen, it is unfiltered and that seemed best) and water in a 1 to 7 proportion. I add 2 oz of cranberry to a pint jar (16oz) and then fill the rest with water. This is great to just drink but I would swish around a mouth full for 2 minutes then spit it out and just let it work on my tongue for another 2 minutes. Dark brown dead candida splotches (I imagine that is what they are) would appear and I would then swish around a mild salt solution (1/2 teaspoon salt to 1 cup water) for another 2 minutes and then spit this out. I would repeat this procedure many more times and for me it temporarily removed the thrush.

I have first time Thrush from chemo. Started out as burning and pain in my mouth going down my chest and very sick. I'm on 100 mg of Fluconazole for 14 days also a liq. 200 mg with Nystatin-Lidocaine-DPH-Antacid Sup. to drink up to 4 times a day. Helped after 3 days... tongue

I was going to start a post on thrush and name it Thrush, Anyone? !!!

I have been on too many strong antibiotics lately. I was first on Augmentin for 10 days for a sinus infection and UTI. On the 10th day, I went to the hospital because it was getting hard to breathe from bronchitis, so they put me on Levaquin. I am not sure when I noticed my tongue. : ( I have had thrush a few times; my big clue is when I try to scrape it off, and half my tongue comes with it. :(

I bought apple cider vinegar, and gargled with a half teaspoon in water. I almost swallowed it, so I followed the directions next time, and mixed 1 T with a cup of water. According to livestrong.com, you should drink this mixture several times a day. I tried it once, and moved on to Easter candy. I go see my Rheumo doc on Tuesday, so I need to remember to add thrush to my list of fun things to talk about.
