Plaquenil shortage???

Has anyone else had a problem getting plaquenil? I have been getting a generic form my Sandoz and when I got it filled a few weeks ago, they switched me to another brand. They said they couldn't get the Sandoz. I woke up today feeling the worse that I've felt in a very long time. I wonder if it's from the change? I saw where it is backordered. I sure hope they bring it back soon. It seemed to work really well for me and the name brand would be cost prohibitive for me.

Joy, is it the name brand plaquenil that you get from Wal Mart then? My insurance has gone up. Name brand plaquenil is $200 a month for me! The generic brand from Sandoz seemed to be working for me. Now, I am having a flare. I am assuming b/c of the different plaquenil, but who knows?? Plus, the different brand plaquenil is causing me to have nightmares.

That might be same company who does mine.

I have not heard of this and it is very odd that there could be a shortage. But my latest refill i also received a different brand that says plaquenil right on it. I wondered if this was the name brand but i paid the same generic price.

HA! Just in time for me to start this drug. I'm a blood tet away from beginning treatment...

Any feed back about this treatment? Have you experienced any negative side effects? Does it work? Tips?

Thanks, yes, I get my eyes checked twice a year. Do you have type 1 or 2 diabetes, Joy? Gee, we look like we are related when you look at our ailments!!! LOL..... I may have commented on that before but forgot. I just have the sjogrens instead of the lupus. I've also been having some tremors in the past two years. At first, I thought it was a medication but I still have them at times. I also have the tremors during sleep. I can feel them as I am waking up.

I can feel the plaquenil working thank goodness! Gosh, I was so fatigued and hurt, so it was a big blessing for me.

Watching The Voice finale tonight. They are all so good. Hard to pick a favorite but I like Megan and Koryn the best, I believe.

blood test came back good and need to schedule the eye appt. I was told a baseline and every 6 months thereafter

Is Plaquenil stamped on it? Sandoz is the manufacturer's name and it makes a generic and they also apparently make the name brand. They apparently ran out of the generic and are substituting the name brand now. I got the name brand for the generic price from CVS here in the US. If it's generic, they shouldn't have charged you that much! I'd check into that!!!

I wonder how long the shortage will last?? CVS is giving me name brand plaquenil for generic prices. It's a shame all pharmacies aren't doing that.

I have BCBS too! At CVS, they carried the generic made by Sandoz, maybe they cut a deal with them to give the name brand for the generic price. I thought it was interesting that Sandoz makes the name brand and generic! I'll see what I get when I pick up my refill today. It's been about 3 months now but I feel it kicking in to help with the joint pain. I still get fatigued but that might be my thyroid.
Back a few years ago, I thought plaquenil gave me some low blood sugars.

It was $10 for me and still the name brand. I'll see how it goes in another two weeks.

How many mgs per day will you be taking of Plaquenil? Is 600 the maximum dose?
