Hallucinating with High Doses of Prednisone?

I had the strangest experience Saturday night. My new doctor prescribed 10 milligrams of prednisone 4x a day for a very bad flare of fibro and RA. Saturday was fine, but Saturday night I was getting ready for bed and went downstairs to brush my teeth. At some point, I noticed the wall and sat down fascinated. I thought the wall was moving, and I was convinced a pink spot on the wall was a tiny fish. I kept pushing the spot playing with the fish. Eventually the wall got wet, and I COULD PUT MY FINGERS IN THE WALL, and play with the sand. Hubby came over, was shocked and called 911, I had a CT scan and blood work, but I was fine. The ER doctor said it was the high dose of prednisone! I have always hated the stuff, I prefer Kenalog shots, and my new RA office has never given them to me. Has anyone else experienced hallucinations?

I went to RA doctor yesterday and let him have it. I told him I was seriously thinking of finding a doctor at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. He told me I can never take prednisone again, but told me that it might be difficult without it to stop flares in the future. He suggested we start over since this was only the second time I had seen him (the first appt at this practice was with the wrong doctor).

He said he would give me the Kenalog when I have flares. I asked him why they don't give them more routinely, and he said it was easier to give prednisone prescriptions. He told me that when I have a flare, to call the office tell them I needed to have him call me, and he would make time to give me a shot. A weird thing at this practice is that the doctor gives the shots because they only have MAs, not nurses.

I admired his responses to me while I was so ticked off. I hate having to drive 30 minutes into Philadelphia and deal with parking for follow ups and flares, so I would like to stay with this practice.
