Hi everyone! Well, we're told TOMORROW we'll have that one bathroom running! YEAH!

Thank the heavens above, it warmed up today! With no full walls, that helped us a lot! Over the weekend, the house was SOOO cold with the cold weather. Unfortunately, we don't get walls back up until NEXT week and it's supposed to get cold and rainy  again by the weekend. sad

Erin, how's the crutch search going?

crutch search is on hold due to lack of funds. tongue financial status= Broke.

i do have a Bday coming up March 4th...so as a twisted "i love you happy birthday" gift, my honey can get me the crutches. tongue

hmmm? we do have an anniversary (4 years) next week too! "happy anniversary here's some crutches baby!"  yeah, that'll work too.

 

for some reason this week i've been getting bouts of i don't know...anxiety? eyes the current state i'm in...is gettin' old!  i'm really missing work, sad , and just being able to go out.

anyone get like this? those who are unable to work & are pretty much homebound?? get like episodes of "mourning" kinda? it's weird.

even if i could volunteer at my old workplace it would make a big difference...aaaargh!  mad see, my mind wants to go! i hate these episodes of grief!

feels like "grieving for the way you once were".  mixed in with a little "uselesness".

 

current mood: ticked-off

but i'm sure, this too shall pass.

How have you managed without water & plumbing for so long? Hope it actually is up & running today! We don't realize how lucky we are to have all these conveniences sometimes. I wouldn't make a very good "pioneer". Hope you're holding in there...mentally & physically!

Erin, Sorry about the state of your financial being. We have 2 pairs...if only there was a way to get them to you. Not the easiest shape to ship :-(

Today was not the best of days for my offspring...has had a couple of real rough weeks with severe inflamation of all large joints. He stopped the REMICADE because it caused psoriasis (odd phenom because it's prescribed to alleviate psoriasis), best of it was it was helping the RA. By this past weekend he could hardly get out of bed. SOS call put in to Dr office 8:15 AM Monday...3:45PM reply " tomorrow, 8:45 AM". OK, not exactly what we wanted but never the less beggars can't be choosers. Everything went well until the x-ray tech started manhandling him. Needed lots of different films done and the guy was trying to bend things that just don't bend anymore. When he got to the lumbar one he wanted him to do do some sort of contortion that compromises his hip surgery. The guy was swearing. Well, that sent M into meltdown and he came out of there into the main lobby of the imaging dept at USC HealthCare, half dressed, no shoes, saying at the top of his voice...words to the effect that this tech doesn't know what the "expletive" he's doing., etc. I had trouble getting him to calm down. Needless to say he's going to put in a formal complaint. I of course wanted to die because he's never done anything like that before. Admiitedly when he's had his knees aspirated and shot up with cortisone the F bombs fly but he's been in the privacy of soundproof exam room and it's been solved now by having them give him a towel to bite on! That's one painful procedure. My heart goes out to all who've suffered this.

So anyways, we manged to escape before security was called ;-) Got home and sorted out new treatment with friendly neighborhood pharmacist...KINERET. Special order but will have it tomorrow. Will continue with methotrexate but has increrased dosage to eight tabs a week (up from 6). Prednisone to stay at 10mg/daily and folic acid. Anyone been on this regimen? If this doesn't work then ENBREL at a higher dose than before or RITUXAN will be next. Lets hope though neither of those will be necessary and this will be the "magic bullet".

Sorry to ramble...I'd sell myself to the Devil just to make M better!

well, you can let em' know that i too, let the F Bombs fly when i get my knees done as well!

thanx for you concern.  i don't forget that i'm fortunate to have a roof over my head...but i have had my independence pretty much stripped away.  so used to supporting myself & my work was a big part of my identity.  for the past 2 years i get in a little depressed modes every now and then about it.

 

so the psoriasis was so bad that it wasn't worth staying on the Remicade?

mad  That tech needs a formal complaint filed against him.  When I was working in clinic, hosp. etc. I knew people weren't there for a picnic and I did my darndest to treat them with care and compassion and DIGNITY.  I'm pretty steamed after reading your post.  If I were you I'd not only file a compaint but also talk directly to the administrator.  Some folks don't need to be subjecting themselves to the public.

Grandson had a minor urological surgery yesterday.  8 years old and he's fine, just mad at the world right now.  Still waiting for grandson #3 to arrive.  Due date was Tuesday but this is her first baby and he'll arrive when he's darned good and ready.  I'm sure it will be during the next wave of ice we're due for. 

I think I have a shin splint and hips are killing me.  In for a terribly busy day today and I can barely walk.  You'd think that if you gave an able-bodied person a job they'd show up, huh?  Not so.  Same song, second verse with my employees.  Haven't officially put the business on the market but it will be soon.  Hubby keeps dragging his feet and we argue a lot about what I can and cannot do.  Some people just don't get it.  If you don't have this disease you just can't relate.  He's of the mind frame that there's something I can do to make myself keep going, I gave myself arthritis, I love to complain, etc.  Next time I'll "compain" with a 2 x 4.  Teehee.

I see rheumy next week.  I'm concerned about the hip pain and shin splint with osterporosis.  Ugh.  Boo

Hi Gals,
Even though I don't post much, I always listen in.
Ladies, am I hooked on the unicycle. It is too much fun!
I have crashed hard twice, ended up on my wrists, which, since the crash and break in Moab have been pretty sore. Getting old and having RA is not without its price, oh well.

But my riding buddy is getting a Muni today, and I've been looking. Our goal is to ride the pratice loop on the Slick Rock Trail this fall.

not much new here in the deep freeze, snow piled high (over 3 feet) like everywhere else it seems.

snowboarding has been great for the kidos, plus schools were closed so they have had much slope time!  me i am the cookie baker- hot cocoa maker tongue

 

mama so glad u got water!!!!!  enjoy the sun and fun for me scool

 

 

had my first cortisone shot! in the shoulder.  i loved it!  i can now move with full ROM and no significant pain to complain of!   yippie like back in the college days i'd like this so much i'd buy shots for the whole gang of us if i could! one round bar tender please~ lol tongue   and no weight gain to boot!     ~     goodbye prednisone skull   hello cortisone skull   lol

 

well dont kill urself on that uni craig but live and have fun! i'll stick to the stationary bikes!

Yalinda, So glad you got such great relief from your injection.  But how was the actual, physical part of being injected?  Were you already in so much pain that it didn't matter?  I used to have spinal injections but with the help of my friend, Versed. 

Still no baby.  Docs may induce her tomorrow.  I'm just a normal, anxious grandma wanting to hold the little feller. 

Can't wait for warmer weather.  I'm going to buy a tent and have the biggest tent sale the county has ever seen!  Too much junk in this house and not enough room.  Need to minimize and make it safer to walk around in this house.  skull Anyone else have those thoughts?  I want to get rid of everything I haven't used or needed for a year. 

Coffee sure is good this morning and it's quiet and no one's bugging me (except the dogs).  Not looking forward to going into work and have the whole thing start all over again (who can't work this afternoon, who is sick, who is cranky......).  I ended up working 4 12 hour days last week and ended up in bed all weekend.  Just not worth it.  Told hubby last week he was going to end up doing it all by himself because I'm not supposed to be on my feet that much and this is the only body I have.  Sorry to rant.  Seems that I'm not heard anywhere else.  Thanks, Boo

yep boo i think the shoulder hurt so bad that the injection felt painfree! i was frightened to get it as i was told it would hurt but it really didnt?! he froze it first or at least it felt like ice was being placed on the area and then the shot! i hope this lasts as it feels great!

ummmmmmm i have been stressing with my morning beverage. i ususally a coffee drinker have been dabbling in green teas and i think it is helping with the weightloss but i am not certain? i miss my coffee but love that my weight keeps going sown and i dont want to do anything to hamper the progress, so am i crazy is the tea helping? hummmmmmmmmmmmm i dkn?

well i hope u get a full working staff today boo. are u in retail? well i best begettin my behind to work! take care everyone and heres to another snowy cold monday upstate. yalin

hey shirt tucked in with a belt today! 17 of my 30 gained ....... gone! bye bye prednisone.......... i'll die in pain before i go back on it lol! ok i can say that cuz i am not in a flare, i am certain i will cave someday....... lol

duck still not doing good? did u call anyone with this flare or do u think it will pass without intervention?
u able to work?

Yalinda... nope, haven't called anyone.. the weather is being screwy, I think that's part of the problem, plus there is a nasty virus going around, I think my body is trying to fight everything, and is starting to lose the battle... :( just so tired and hurt so much.. I am at work... not happy, but I'm here

No baby yet.  Appointment this morning and doc may induce.  Horrible weather, wet, windy, rainy.  Yup.  He'll probably come today as granny can hardly move!  Not in a total flare but weather doesn't help.

17 lbs.!  Think I may start drinking green tea.  How much do you drink?  Does it make you have less appetite?  It seems everything I'm taking has the side effect of weight gain, Etodolac, Effexor and Toprol.

We have a drycleaning/laundry.  Hard work.  Like milking cows.  Hee hee.  I'm like that commercial on tv where the guy is walking around smiling saying, "I'm in debt up to my eyeballs.  Somebody help me".  At least we have a roof over our heads and 3 squares.  Lots of folks don't these days.

moanin everyone!

hey boo i am off the prednisone and the pounds are coming off easy so i think that helps but i drink 1-2 in the morning - maybe a miday vup or cold version and then 1-2 in the eening to warm up with a biscotti i might add! i am afraid to check today as hubby bought some pasrty hearts and i ate too! happy vday to me lol

hum if u were closer i would give u my business as i HATE doing my laundry lol with two teenage girls it Never ends! heres to having a baby hopefully today

and everyone take care and i wish a good day to all.......

ps i think the cortisone shot is weakening? shoulder a little stiffer again? dang that was only a week of total sucess but it is still good just not great.

right now my cat Pea is snuggled right on  my chest reading the posts on HW too! :-) she's either overly happy or really cold! LOL...don't know why she's extra cuddly & all up in  my face, but i like it! smurf

 

oh no! i caved last night too yalinda! tee hee hee. i had a jones for chocolate (which is unusual...don't care for it much) ...but the whole darn chunk of it is?....GONE!  nono

so if me legs & joints are alright @2 o'clock...he's taking me to our "first date" spot @ a little cafe near his office.

says he's got a GIFT FOR ME! confused confused confused hmmm????

 

had Remicade yesterday...still feeling beat up though today.  hands are bad...knuckles feel like i punched someone...kinda like they're smushed in?  bad weather is working against me...bummer.

i know a lt of us are flaring (hi Boo)...{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} especially for my Duckster!

yeah  me honey just left!  boy is he sweet.  he found a really nice Bob Dylan signed & numbered lithograph! nicely framed.  I LOVE IT! yeah

we hung out for a hour...back to work he goes.  it was nice though to spend a littletime together.
