well i got 5 and a 1/2 hrs sleep last night! sleep tight too! of course i first finished tying 120 bows around a napkin and some silverware.- no trees bear sry i know u bears like trees. ran around all morning witherrands- oh did i mention i am on vacation!. whoohoo!!!!!!!!!!!

big thing with my youngest is she went to the local premier of harry potter as she is a huge fan. she is going tonight to the imax to see it again only in 3D and then she got a free pass for buying the video game so she plans to go one more time this week to see it for free again. she won the premier ticket and was soooooooo happy! me i dont know why any one would want to see a movie 3 times in one week? she read that 800+ whatever page book in like one sitting. so if anyone is wondering she said the movie was great-best thus far- just dont compare it to the book or u might not like it , but otherwise it is ***** (5 star review by my daughter)

mom23- sont worry it will get better- it takes awhile to get over that tired feeling i use to fall asleep at the wheel when i first went on mtx. really i had a major problem staying awake didnt know it was the mtx but to think of it it ws last summer early on and i started the mtx in like april or may? last year. no problem now maybe i need a power nap but heck i always needed them. so hopefully u will b ok....

Hello All!  This is H--- Week with the Rodeo in town.  The only thing I get to see of cowboys and such is the mud and shoo shoo on jeans and shirts.  Of course it had to rain during the Monday night performance.  Since this is Hump Day (Bear), I'm almost half way through.  My feet are the worst part.  I can make it until about noonish and then I'm in tears with pain.  Did get an appointment with my podiatric surgeon who did my toe joint replacement.   He's awesome and the first thing he'll do is an x-ray. Can't wait to find out what this pain is.  So now, for vacation week I have four appointments in the city.  We can't afford to fly off anywhere this year so that's ok.  Just not having to get up and go to work for a week will be a dream. 

Rheumy changed my rx to Celebrex from Lodine.  Was having massive tummy problems.  Wants me on Methotrexate (sp?).  Haven't done research on it yet.  At this point I'll do anything. 

Have a question for you pros out there.  Years of working in hospital/clinic setting bring regular checkups, screenings and follow ups with Infection Control Department.  Several years ago I had a positive TB test.  Encapsulated somewhere in my body, NOT LUNGS and I am not contagious, NOT spreading TB around the countryside here.  PC, whose specialty just happens to be Pulmonary has been keeping close tabs on me.  With all this RA medication wouldn't it be a GREAT idea to go ahead and take the dreaded Rifampin or whatever else they prescribe to erradicate the TB before I end up on the very stuff that would lower my immune system?  Just wondering about all this.  My lungs are in great shape but this is still a monkey on my back.    Guess I should have been wearing a mask 24/7 when walking in and out of hospital rooms all those years.  Probably got it from one of the docs who go to and from India all year long and never think twice about it.   Boo

HUMIDITY!!!!! ugh!!!!!!!!

been laying low lately, not feeling too hot (ironic eh?) these days. Thursday i hit a wall (not literally)...

joint pain is @ an alltime high too. {Yally my left shoulder is ready for amputation too}

rheummy appt. in august but could use one sooner (need the knees done).

 

momto3...YES it is a GOOD (but weird yes) thing that you're exhibiting a "not making it" period with the MTX.  it shows your doc that YOU ARE responding positively to the med; you're actually benefiting somewhat from it; it aids in his correct diagnosis & treatment as well.  it would be a bad thing if you are taking this med & things just stayedthe same & ya' didn't notice any sort of peak or fall.

about your "popping" above the shoulder blades thang...the shoulders & shoulder joints do crack (just clasp your hands together and stretch em' up over your head and you'll get a big loud "CRACK") (or swing em' across your chest and they'll pop too).

it's natural for this to happen, it's pretty normal.

what's abnormal is if you're having pain with it or if you're losing your range of motion.

"above the shoulders"?...if you're feeling like a "crunching" it could very well be upper back & neck tension.

are u having pain with this?  is your posture OK?  making sure your muscles & neck are lose by gentle stretching????

 

hey Jody...my hunny Joe has told me in the past that he does from time to time get a little depressed about my situation...b/c he can't make it go away.  I FEEL BAD FOR HIM! lol.  awe.  i think it's 100 times harder for the OTHER person regarding dealing with illness.  i don't know how i would handle it if HE had what I have!  in fact, i'm glad i have it & not him (i think i handle it better)...but yeah, i would hate to watch someone suffer with this.

 

Yally take it easy would ya?!?!?!  do what's VITAL!!!!  give your arm a break!!!

 

Camama.... wassup' my california momma?!?! i looked up in my nursing texts & Arava could possibly cause some side effects like pharyngitis & chest pain.

Sounds like another achy day in the neighborhood...I'm so sorry to hear that everyone's having bad days...right there with you, but I think I'm getting a little better. Hit my lower back bad this time, but doc says RA doesn't hit there so what could it be? Real sore both sides of the spine, think it hit the sciatic (sp). Doubled up on the Celebrex and that has helped.
Erin, did you ever get any lawyer info? Been thinking a lot about you, hoping things were getting better!! Thanks for the input about Joe..(sounds like such a ggod guy, hope mine can hang in there with me. Next Tuesday we celebrate our 25th...can't think of a thing to do special for him...anybody got any suggestions?? He deserves something nice.  Took me on plus two extra kids, made us all into a family, when their own dad wasn't too interested in them.
Boo, I'm with Yally...a town full of cowboys...maybe we need to plan a road trip next year when this goes on? Hope your feet hold out, seems my feet are always aching, but at least I can get them up sometimes, don't know how you do it with the hours you put in.. Isn't one of your daughters having trouble too? How is she doing?

You're a real encouragement for the mtx El. Thank you! I was almost anxious for the doc to add something else, now I'm just going to hope the mtx kicks in good with in the next month, so we don't have to add anything. Been on 15mg for about 5 weeks now, doc is going to re-evaluate at next appt on 31st. Was getting a little discouraged with the ups and downs, but seems that's just part of the whole thing.

Yup. These cowboys are crazy, funny, muddy people. I've swept half the arena out of my shop this am after morning mark-ins. Sure brings a lot of $$$$$$ into our town. Last year some of the "little" fellers were standing out on the main strip in this town, after the night performance was well over, holding up a sign that said "Will work for sex". The Rodeo officials shut him and his friends down but I laughed my tail off! Industrious young men.
Turning in for the night (hopefully). Feet really hurt. Staying off of them is the only relief I have. We have to start at 6:00 tomorrow morning. Nighty-night. Boo

Hey Boo,

One thing I can tell you about tb treatment--it is heck for your stomach.  Of course, I had stomach issues to begin with. But one thing I recall was the first 2-3 weeks on tb treatment, I was so nauseated I could hardly eat.  Lost 8 pounds in the first 2 weeks (gained it back now).  It eventually got better, but I still get a little queasy in the morning (it's been about 4 months), and you're supposed to take the meds on an empty stomach.  However, my doctor told me that if you need to eat something with it, go ahead and do it.  Keep in mind that I was not taking only rifampin and INH in the beginning.  I was also tacking ethambutol and PZA in addition to the rifampin and INH.  Stomach got a little better when I dropped back to just rifampin and INH.  And of course, the rifampin turns your bodily fluids orangish/yellow.  Just don't panic about it; it's temporary.  I've read that it will turn soft contacts orange, so you might not want to wear contacts during treatment (if you need corrective eyewear at all).  I switched to glasses, so it's not an issue.

Camama...Good luck with your appointment today...I hope your doctor listens to all of your symptoms and doesn't pass you off to your other doctor. I think MTX and Arava are similar and I have some strange red dots on the back of my arm, my daughter noticed them, they look like pin marks of some kind..maybe the MTX, so these meds give strange symptoms. I know that the MTX can cause coughs etc so it could be your Arava? Does your doctor listen to your lungs at your visits? Let us know, I think mine would be alarmed, especially if these things were occurring on the meds.

I hope everyone else is hanging in there...for me just terribly tired and a bit sore today. My daughter actually woke me up this morning...I felt bad that I was not up before her, so I told her that I had a headache and had laid back down:(

Helllo to all you beautiful people and welcome from a slgihtly sultry downtown Apsley where the bear has only just got home from work - yes it's 30 gone midnight. The trains were delayed for hours coz some sad demented soul decided that heor she had had enough of this life and ended t all under my train and being a 'scene of the crime' we all had to sit on our train for hours while they took their photographs etc and what should have been a 30 minute journey home took over five hours. Looks like the medical profession are dining out on you rheumies again with so much pain going down and there was me thinking I had had such a good day all told. Hey babybloo keep with the positive thoughts - you think its a beautiful body/soul then its a beautiful body/soul. The crap what anyone else thinks. Hang in there. Boo I have the chanters and gong bahsers givng it some for that pain - you all think I am kidding?  jest not for the momma bear is a shoshu buddhist and they are into chantng and gong bashing in a big way - but its only a little gong. Positive thughts are floating on the airwaves across the pond as we write. If you believe in whatever who is to knock it. Me I'm a card carrying 7th day post natal  depressionist of the latter day heathens - that should just about offend everybody out there but it is POETS day already so who cares eh?

Once again I reading heavy meds use- stuff I've never heard about and TB!!!! even of the non-contageous variety [anybody checked your bones? TB of the bone s a rare possibility I am led to believe]. Of course over here TB of the bovine variety is a big problem for our farming friends to the extent that the government in its wisdom has declared war on bears distant cousins the badger. Old mr. brock is being gassed in his hundreds in parts of the country for suspected TB abuse. Nobody has thought of the idea that it might actually be cattle that spread it to other cattle rather than badger. The farming lobby are too powerful to cull cattle so they cull nice mr. badger. Has nobody read Wind in the Willows? Save the badger man!

Thanks for the chanting, Bear. Rheumy put me on Celebrex. Like eating candy for all the good it does. Rains are back in full force. Wouldn't ya know...the cowboys and cowgirls are getting bathed in mud. Making my job harder. I swept my work center out three times today and had enough mud to start a garden. One more day of it and then they will go on to other states and other rodeos.
Thanks for the additional info, El. I think I need to get this resolved before other health issues arrive. I'm not getting any younger.

Sorry to ost so soon but that was the worst night ever. Not pain - night terrors!!! At my age. Did a weird thing yesterday - forgot to put my meds patch on totally forgot and things started getting worse by 3.00 am with strange waking dreams - I couldn't get to sleep so it was like the twilight world - palpitations, 'wearing' my skin, light headedness and I realised it was maybe withdrawal and so put a patch on and tried to get back asleep or even to sleep. Surreal Dali-esque dreams gave way to scary crap the likes of which I've not had since my chemical youth. open eyes they go away shut them they come back. It was the ants and spiders that forced me to give up and have a shower. This is going to be one fun day at work - I normally fal asleep in the afternoon - this mornning will be interesting to say the least. Pain I can jsut about put up with, tiredness is liveable with but sleeplessness and those freakin spiders and ants, that's over the bar and far away. Sorry for ruinng POETS day for you all so early. But thanks for listening.

 i'm P.O.'d or disgruntled rather...very angry @ my meds. 

who else? someone just mentioned Celebrex a few posts back? well yeah me too, stupid crap...was really hoping it would "help". even a tiny bit i was hoping...NO.

so instead it goes like this: PAIN...400mg celebrex...still pain...2G tylenol...still there & still bad...8mg dilaudid...PAIN still!...2G tylenol...

this make any sense?

 

celebrex is getting the boot, all it's doing is adding 1 more medication down my throat...rather be swallowing M&M's... so i feel your frustation fellow celebrex haters.

 

it's been a little difficult to go on the computer lately, potty issues.

can't wait for remicade on monday.

geesh...i was only home from my hunny's 1 day & was already looking to leave again!  thank God it's friday. leaving tonight.  i really do not like staying @ home anymore...when i'm at my hunny's even when not feeling well, i still feel "better" ya know.  here ya can't even sit on your back porch without someone sticking their nose in your business...feels like a freakin' prison.

Still exhausted so tomorrow I will take something called luecovoren (sp?) my doctor had to call it in and not sure why, and it is supposed to help with fatigue if you take MTX, I hope it helps.
