Saw my new Rheumatologist this morning. Very good consultation. She's putting me on prednisone for the time being while she double checks my dx, and then most likely she's gonna start me on Methotrexate, and after a few months on that, depending on how things go Humira or something along those lines.

 

I know I don't want to be on the prednisone long term, but HOLY CRAP it's nice to have mobility again!!!!!!

Ah prednisone - the drug I love to hate. I have been on it now for four years straight and cant seem to taper past 15mg without flaring at present. You are right, it is nice to have mobility again.

I've never been on prednisone for more than a month or so... howcome you're on it for so long? That's terrible :(

LS - I have been on it for so long as a maintenance drug for Crohns Disease and Ankylosing Spondilitis - I just cant taper down - very frustrating and depressing! Anyway I am booked in for a small bowel resection the 14th September and am hoping this will help me be able to lower the pred dose, in fact Im hoping to be rid of it altogether for awhile, but we'll see. I have forgotten what its like not to have to rely on it for relief. Im hoping if my Crohns can go into remission then the Ankylosing Spondilitis will too. Not too much to ask for is it haha.

Ah... well in some ways I kind of know what you mean. I have no memory at all of what it's like to not depend on anything to take pain away. I haven't known non drug-induced relief for years. It isn't cool

I wish you the best of luck with all of that though.
