I went back to my rheumy last week. He sat there with a straight face and said he didn't know what was wrong with me and didn't know how to treat it and I should just go home, learn to live with it and take tylenol!!!!!!  I stared at him for a minute, then told him if tylenol did anything I would have kept my money and stayed home and taken tylenol. ( have pain in all my joints, especially the L arm and hand)
I went back to my IM doctor who told me he still thought it was fibromyalgia even though I didn't meet the criteria and that I should give the muscle relaxers about 3 months. He wouldn't give me anything for the pain.  I hurt worse now than I ever have.  It wakes me up multiple times a night even with muscle relaxers and ambien.  If this is due to lack of sleep as he says, how in the world am I supposed to get better if the pain keeps me from sleeping!!!!
I am going to see a new Rheumy.  Most likely won't be any help either but I don't know what else to do!

getting a new rheumy is good. Need to get you a definate dx. You can also see your primary care with help you with pain management untill you get a dx.  Because you need to be able to sleep.  Have you had a colonscopy or an ANA blood test done?

Hey there mom.. how are you? Tylenol huh? Wow.. hhmm.. Have you found a new rheumy yet? Was this the first time you had seen this particular rheumy? Did he do x-rays or any type of bloodwork? Hang in there.. and please let us know how you are doing..

I went to my primary care MD. He refused to give me ANYTHING for pain. He thinks it is fibromyalgia even though I don't have any of the tender points. He says the pain med will make things worse by sensitizing the pain receptors and that fibromyalgia is due to lack of deep sleep and the inablility to relax the muscles so he wants me to take 6 zanafex at night and give it 3 months. ( no matter that the pain wakes me up multliple times a night even with the muscle relaxers for sleep and ambien for sleep)No suggestions of what to do for the pain in the meantime other than he suggested a new rheumy. The first reumy did a boatload of blood tests and the only positive was a vit D deficiency. no xrays. It was the 2nd time (and last) time I saw the rheumy. He gave me ultram and told me to take one every 6 hours. I have tried 2 every 4 hours and it does NOTHING. I am getting an appointment with a new rheumy and thinking about seeing a pain management MD. I am just so afraid they are all going to tell me to learn to live with it. They don't have a clue how bad I hurt all the time!

Maybe a good Neurologist can help you.He can run the battery of tests you may need.It's worth a shot.

Can you be referred to a pain management specialist?

A vitamin D deficiency can mimic RA. I would get your PCP or a Rheumy to treat that first. It may be the source of all your problems.

I am glade that you are going to see another Rheumy.I know it's not easy and very frustraiting when your in pain and having a nut for a Rheumy doesn't help matters either.I agree that a pain doctor is what you need.Please elt us know how your appointment with the new Rheumy goes.
