WOW, we're not even 1/2 way thru the 1st mo. of the year and everyone is so sick! I've been tryig to stay healthy - though the joints ache with all this cold - to help sis next weekend w/new nephew (who is on his way sometime this week)

Yally, sorry to hear about your friend. 55 is very young. As for your Cali visiting one - are they still here? It was really cold last week, but the last few days have been warmer. Still too cold for my taste!

I have never heard of Chemtrails either....someone at work informed me of them the other day. something SOMEONE is doing up in the air with planes and leaving these ever-lasting trails around the  globe supposedly. No one is fessing up to them and what they're fore. But apparently it's been going on for about a decade....and I just have to wonder if there is somethign to them and the health issuses we have.

I miss the "d-d-d-d-DORA" days myself as well! Speaking of, my 8 year old is bugging me once again (daily) for a little sister. Son is asking now too.....<sigh> I tired to explain no more for me and it turned into my daughter (8 year old) once again askign about babies and all the HOWS and WHYS about them more and more. I thought I was prepared for this, but I am not......she is a smart girl. I'm not sure light stories of how flowers are pollenated and "special hugs" mom and dad do are enough (I started that, but couldn't do it....her questions began instantly as she MUST KNOW every detail and I didn't want a birds and bees discussion turning in to an arguement.)  Most kids would take a simple answer and drop it - but she's not like that. Her brain has to process and know everything. Any books suitable for an 8 year old girl (and probably viewed by a 6 yr old boy) you can suggest or something to help me thru this (other than a shot of whiskey)!!!!?????

hi camama...it is wonderful to hear about your very bright little girl. I agree with boo, find her a good book to read about the birds and bees and stuff and let her know in her own way that is what life is about. you should talk to her about the stars in the sky too...get a book from the library on that! before you know it she will be like me and feel so big when the librarian shows her the ADULT FICTION SECTION and be very happy and proud of herself.

It's ten forty pm here in downtown Apsley and the weather is damp but not too cold - however the Scots have been served a severe weather warning for tonight. Thought I'd let you know that. Sad to see there is still much ill health around that is not RA - as if that wasn't enough to put up with.

I return to work in 4 weeks time and am apprehensive about it. My leg is as good as its gonna get already but my head is nowhere ready to go back. What the enforced lay off hasdoen isg ive me the time to fully realise jsut how much of an effect pd has on my body. Up until the operation I wwas working full time and ad little thought for how bad/how tired etc but now........Particularly as my work entails travelling from one end of the country to the other - okay so England is only the size of a small state if that but it carrries much responsibility and as I have already decided to take early retirement in December my mind has alreeady decided that it may as welll go now. The thing is I love my work and I don't really want to retire but I have to face the reality of having a degenerative condition - any change to my job to make life easier would mean it is no longer the job a took on. Have others faced this dilemma? How did you deal with it?

Still waiting for the finance tocome through so we can go ahead adn move but at least we have had the offer in writingnow - its all down to the lawyers now. Hope fullly by the 1st wek in Feb I will be in a new cave and be in abetter frame of mind to return to work.. Sorry to moan on a bit - one of those days i guess.

I hope everybody hs a better week and that Boo's monkey doesn't get too carried away and think she runs the business/ time to retire Boo.

Ducky, I know how you feel, just got over the flu and pneumonia myself.  Hang in there, it gets better.  Try to rest as much as possible and drink lots.

This is going to be a long post, but some may find it interesting.  I still don't know what to think about it.  i'm not sure if I had mentioned before but in late 2001, I had a bout with Breast Cancer.   I was 35 at the time and recently widowed.  Anyway after a wedge resection and radiation I had genetics testing done as well ( my mother also had breast ca pre-menopausal).  I was BRCA 1 + so it was decided that it would be in my best interest to have a complete hysterectomy including having my ovaries removed.  i was also put on a med called exemestane.  This is used to remove any estrogen that I could have been producing.  Trust me, i was producing no estrogen!!!!!

I didn't start taking this med until June of 2004, It was actually a study that I was on.  When I was diagnosed with RA, my oncologist took me off the med (said it was a med break at first and then took me completely off the study). 

My Rheumy received a letter from him and at my last appointment, my Rheumy informed me that my oncologist thinks the RA as brought on by the onset of being pushed into early menopause (hysterectomy and exemestane).  i was kind of baffled because of all of the questions I asked and with all of the paperwork and workup you get when you go on a study no one ever mentioned that RA was a possible. Has anyone ever heard of this.  Any comments or info would be great.

my dear ducky, i feel so bad i wish i could send some soup your way...... it is hard enough having a sick child but being sick at the sme time and dealing with the ra issues

i so wish i could be of help?!  try and get as much rest as possible and drink those liquids. 

 

raven are you a 100 percent yet????? it takes a lot of you having a bad bout esp with pnuemonia.  dont you over do yourself either.

mom23 when do you go back to classess?  soon?  i know you are enjoying the break and dreeding the return to classes but each day gets you that much closer to success.

had my pre op testing today t minus 7 days and counting you know i do expect you all at my bedside...... lol  ok well i will instruct hubby how to post an i am ok post for you all, i feel sorry for the peps who i bother when i am home on disability bored needing to converse with you!!!!! i am gonna email and post my brains out then lol

Actually feeling much better.  It's kind of weird but I am having a lot of pain and stiffness as usual but I do feel better physically.  I'm not so tired either.  Hope it lasts. 

The weather here in eastern Ontario, Canada is crazy...............  It's cold and snowing one day and raining and warm (15 degrees celcius/59 Farenheit) the next.  This temp is actually a record.  The warmest it has been on that date since the early 1900's. .  Can't wait until it's warm and sunny and about 80 F.

Hope everyone starts to feel better soon, from reading the posts it's been a rough winter.

Jody that is great news about your son! I'm sure he is going to make a wonderful teacher :) You must be a very proud mom!!!! Sorry to hear your sinus infection is still hanging around :(
I don't really understand that much about autoimmune issues but I have to wonder if my ovaries failing and my high FSH is related to the RA even if it came first.. I know you mentioned an early menopause and that seems to be what is happening to me and now I have the RA..it is scary to know how much this disease dictates our quality of life and sometimes changes the course of how we will live.

Yalinda...Are you on the mend? I know that your surgery is getting closer.

Not much news to report...classes started yesterday so I am back in the routine of classes and driving kids back and forth. The weather is turning much colder today and we are expecting snow by tomorrow...I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things and it seems to be difficult getting to an 8am class and by bedtime I am just exhausted. It seems I am eagerly awaiting FRIDAY!

I do have one quick question..does anyone notice a need to go to the dentist more often with autoimmune disorders? even with brushing/flossing and minimal sugar intake?

gee whiz yallie...make sure not to forget that pill because you are dizzy enough as it is.  My doctor broke his ankle on the black ice on New Year's Day.  He blamed himself but you know accidents happen (ain't that following personal responsibility a bit TOO FAR.  I spilled water and ice all over his carpeting.  CLUTZO.  Us northeasterners are going to hades in a handbasket.

this is the three week yuck according to my pool pals who live in a nearby town.  well I just have to rest more and all that jazz. 

the best thing I heard lately is that the NORTH WILL RISE AGAIN from a young lifeguard and we should secede from the union.  Sounds like a plan to me but I want ducky to move up here and for california to join in too. O well my oklahoma friend (forgot her name) has to move here too so plus all my real friends in texas and europe....DROP THE PLAN.  But our astral spirits can rise, can't they? Another yuck beckons.

but good things do happen...I lost 7 lbs from the pain cycle I guess (I have never lost wait from freaky asthma mess) and get to go tomorrow to the dental clinic to get my ROYAL CROWN put in.

hi everybody...had a crazy day today...everybody around here thinks I'm their go-fer. Pick me up some carrots, get politan tooth strips, get apple juice. what kind of stuff is that ... I don't bother people with favors all the time and they shouldn't bother me.

drove around Albany just to get away from my burg. I miss the crazy people in Brooklyn sometimes. They were fun...all I see is a lot of middle class pretension going on.

I'm going to astral out now and scatter my peace and love wherever it goes.

I tried the alegra thing but since I have developed RA I have been completely unabe to take any of the antihystimines they literally make my skin crawl-I imagine that the two aren't conected but they did happen at the same time.

I will be routing for my Giants to beat your Packers but still hope you have a wonderful day watching football.

I like the old allegra it's the lyrica which makes me too nutty in this quiet burg. You like allegra but I like lyrica let's call the whole thing off you eat banannas and I eat apples let's call the calling off off let's call the whole thing off. (remember the old cole porter tune, anyone???)

As you can hear I am completely nuts now waiting for my next pain cycle to enter. I'm telling you all that asthma takes care of EVERYTHING. I drank this horrible Buckley's chest cold remedy from Canada and I will never enjoy myself again. I promise.
