Had to take a 50 mg of lyrica today and a 50 mg last night. Also found the zel-lupian stuff I need for my ibs can not be obtained through Canada today. I am very tired, but I did water my plants today.

talked to the rhuemmy start the mtx and enbrel again ! whoo hoo cant wait to feel good again!!!!! celebrate good times whoohoo

Yally, I want you to cook for me, sounds like you're making all my favorites...cept maybe the moroccan..can't say I've ever tried that.  I'mso glad you get to go back on your meds!!! Praying you feel better really, really soon. 

Think our house is finally somewhat healthy...fingers crossed that there aren't any leftover little flu buggies hanging around.

Got to watch our son conduct his first ever band concert with his students last week.  It was so awesome to see him up there, he was loving every minute of it. Brought back so many memories of when I used to go and watch him and his brother. Doesn't seem possible that he should be old enough to be the one doing the teaching (or that I should be old enough to have a son teaching lol).  Of course, I am completely biased, but the kids sounded great, and I cried like a baby!

Was reading some of the back posts...wish I knew some Spanish!  Took a couple of years of French way, way back in high school, wish I remembered more of it, Raven..Loved it at the time.

Well, time to hit the hay, all five kids here tomorrow..hugs to you all,

and easy too! but today is sauerbraten day lol ..... yesterday was bbq cause it was hot!

Hey Joan!

Meant to ask you a question if you don't mind....how long after your bout with the shingles did it take for the pain to surface?  or did it just never leave?  A friend of mine is going through a really bad, very painful bout of shingles right now...she is really having a rough one.  She's just starting to scab now, but is so afraid of the kind of pain that you'v experienced.  Just don't know what to tell her.

Yally, you are so sweet.
I am doing great. This is day fourteen with no swollen joints anywhere. The plaquenil is working! Now I just have to stay this way until March 31rst when I see my Rhuemy again so she will drop the whole methotextrate idea (I really don't want to do that.)
It has been 70 here for the last two days so I actually walked a mile both days-I haven't been able to walk two days in a row for several years.
I hope that you and everyone else gets as good a result from your meds.

sj 70 is as bad as flip flops!!!!  all of you with summer skies & me in the frozen tundra( yes i had one day of 50 and now frozen again.... literally!)

....next thing ya know i wil be getting a pic text sent to me of feet in flip flops!!! hehehehehe  your all such hotties! me i am a cool cat!

 

ice storm right now...... wearing our pj's inside out in hopes of school closing tomorrow!  thats what we do up north but it never happens!

as far as RA goes...... yep it is here not as bad thanks to my prednisone!!!!   

 

am tired but gotta stay up and pick up the eldest at dance- in town one week and she takes a class! in an ice storm which i dint want her to drive in so..... you guessed it....

gotta go out and get her in an hour!  so i think i will veg..... hugs to all and keep warm if your cool and cool if your hot! 

 

Yes, I find I got sicker a lot more. Lately, it hasn't been more often, just more severe and prolonged when I do get sick.

How long have you been on methotrexate? I found I had a lot of respiatory problems when I was on that stuff.

Raven...so so sorry you're sick..pneumonia is some bad stuff. Seemed I went from one sinus infection to the next for the past year.  Since I've been off the mtx, still had one, but have also had flu, colds, etc.  The meds are supposed to supress our immune systems, so maybe that does us in.  Or, does just having RA make us more prone to being sick beause our immune systems are already messed up? Seems we can't win either way..we need the meds..but the meds do all this other stuff to us, too. Gets pretty frustrating at times.

Hey CaMama, sorry you're feeling bad, too!  How much longer does your contract last?  How's the kids? Hope you can get some rest...

Sj, congrats on the meds working for you...on plaquenil, too, almost to the 6 month mark...it's helping, though not as much as I had hoped.  So glad it's making such a difference for you! What do you do for a living? been reading some of your other posts, and you seem to have a medical background perhaps?  You are so knowlegable!

How are you doing, Joan?  I'm with Yally and the plant thing...I can kill off the plastic stuff....love them all, but just no good with them..that's hubby's job.  He won't let me anywhere near his orchids!

Well, the day begins....3 little ones here now, two more on the way soon...going to be another busy day.  Hugs to all I may have missed...

Raven, I think it was  you who asked if we are sicker on the meds? I'm not sure if it is the meds but it could be or maybe like Jody said just the RA in general since this year I am just plain sicker than last year! So it could be the MTX or it could be the RA it is so hard to tell anymore One cold seems to turn into another one before I know it! Friday is Ebrel day if I can make it without getting sick.

Jody I'm glad you are on the mend and up and around with the kiddo's..are you back on your meds or taking a break? Sorry I can't remember? Anyway I'm happy to see you posting again

Today it seems to be a frozen tundra here but there is some sunshine....I'm waiting for the 50 degree's on Friday.  However, I am not looking forward to Daylight Savings..I really like that extra hour of sleep and hate to see it go!

Camama...what kind of contract to you have? what type of work?

the things with shingles is it is very individualistic.

It would probably be a good idea, babyplace, for your friend to get some sulfur creme to put on her scabs...but only if she is not allergic to sulfur drugs.

the general rule is the younger you are the less likely it is that you will the post shingles pain. there is one big exception...if you have it on your face that is extremely serious at any age because it can affect your eyesight.

don't know if your friend has access to a computer but there is a site called daily strength which has a number of shingles patients on it.

yes lyrica does help but this is something all new for me...plus i am allergic or super-sensitive to medicine.

of course i am no expert in any of this stuff...my profession was a typesetter in New York City...so long for now
