Hey all.. sorry it has taken me so long to get back here.. Uhm, let's see, what's been going on with me? Well, I did have my last day of work it was 16 May.. I'm not officially retired til 11 June.. my last day in the Air Force will be 10 June... I haven't found a job yet, and that is about to drive me nuts.. I am just mortified at the thought of being unemployed.. And I am finding out, that this job hunt stuff isn't the fun at all.. most everything you have to apply online for.. and then just wait?  I'm not a patient person.. mad

Oh, and I have a new pain.. eyes yippee for me, huh?  It is in my LRQ (Lower Right Quadrant).. I went to the doc about it, 'cause I've been having the pain for about a month now, but it has gotten progessively worse.. It feels like a ripping or tearing pain.. the doc is worried about appendicits or cysts on my rt ovary.. I'm not running a fever or vomiting, so that's a good sign.. I just had  a CT Scan on Monday, and I follow up with the doc on Tuesday (the 10th) for the results.. She gave me vicodin for the pain, but it isn't doing much.. Anyone have pain like this?

Kiddies are getting out of school on the 6th (finally) they can't wait!  And we get my step-daughter hopefully next week for the summer.. so it's going to be busy busy around here again! :-)

Still don't sleep for crap, as you can see, it's almost 4am and I'm still awake..  redface no need in going to sleep now.. I need to make hubby's lunch in a bit and send him off to work.. then I am going to meet a friend of mine for 'brunch' since she just flew into town, but will be leaving this afternoon.. I also promised to take the kids to the pool today.. woo-hoo! scool

Ducky, I am so sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope it is nothing serious and you feel better soon.

I just got power back-its been off for 26 hours due to the horrible storm that moved through here yesterday afternoon. My baby nephew had surgery today and last I heard he is doing well.

Hey its my first day without prednisone and I feel pretty good. My right thumb is a litle swollen but I am putting that down to over use the rest of me feels great.
I am off to shower-the novelty of hot water is irresistable.

I have had pain there and also had lots of cysts on the ovaries..I'm surprised your doc didn't do an u/s? it's an easy way to see if thats whats going on...that is about where it would hurt, plus in the lower back, they can be really painful!  I hope you feel better soon  because pain there is no fun at all.  I bet your kiddos love having mom around but when you are used to being so active and in a routine...can they help you with the transition or do they just give you the boot? You would think they could be a bit more helpful? and assist you with getting another job and easing into the transition, or maybe they are doing this? I'm sorry I"m not familiar with the military.  I hope it gets better.

I hope all is well with everyone else..Today is my 5th wedding aniversary and my middle son is baking us a cake. My husband and I went out and had sushi so all in all it has been a  pleasant day.

Went to see the rheumy  and he wasn't happy that without my Enbrel I had gone downhill so fast, and that by the end of a couple of weeks it was hard to get out of bed..no energy and awful pain..but the Enbrel did arrive and today is a much better day, so that is very encouraging.  I have to go for x-rays on the hands to see if there are signs of "rheumatoid" in them..Gosh I hate that word...rheumatoid. It is actually the first time he has ever said it..rheumatoid.  I get to keep the plaq until the next visit and then I have to go down to one pill, other than that it was a good visit.

I thought she might order an ultrasound too.. but she didn't.. said she wanted a CT Scan with contrast.. so I had to drink 2 big bottles of Banana flavored barium and get an iodine IV.. oh what fun.. I haven't had any pain in my back.. just in my right side.. and man, can it be bad.. so we'll see.. Tuesday can't come quick enough..

As far as the transition.. they don't offer anything.. I was in a class, but the class is only 3 days.. It's funmy that they think you can just go from being military to civilian at the drop of a hat.. everyone tells me I talk like I'm still in the military.. uhm, yeah.. everything I've done for 13 years has been military.. so I have to completely change everything about how I act/talk/dress.. sheesh.. :(

Hi Ducky...

I have heard with the appendix, you can be sick to your stomach or just not feel good for awhile before the actual attack, and with the cyst, if you have a sudden sharp pain and then it passes, it could be the cyst rupturing, I have had that happen.  When that happens the pain usually goes away.  I hope your doctor calls soon with the news of whats going on! I can believe that about the military...sheesh is right!

Camama....Happy Aniversary to you sweetie! Did you do anything fun with your hubby? How are you doing???

Jody? are you out there? Wondering how you are doing? I know the last time you posted you were doing pretty well on your meds and not much pain (so happy to know that!)

Not much to post today, will  probably go in and get the hand x-rays, and hopefully it won't show anything but my fingers on my right hand are getting crooked and have some knots on them..I have really thin hands according to my doctor so I guess its really noticable..

Hubby let me sleep in until I woke up! :) I woke up with kids, made them breakfast and went back to bed until 1:30. Been feelign so yucky still and not sleepign well at night - so it was nice!

Is it dangerous when a cyst erupts? That's probably a stupid question. i would assume it is, but does it depend on the cyst?

yeah!!! Ducky's back!!  So glad to see your posts, dear, but so very sorry that you are feeling so bad...please let us know how the doc appt does on Tuesday.  You know you have been on my heart, girl...

Happy Anniversary Mom and CaMama!!  Congrats and hope you had a wonderful celebration..you both sure do deserve it.

Doing ok here, just way toohot, way too early...almost 96 today...we need rain so badly.  The demo on the house next door has been going on for the past few days sad   The first day they crashed everything down, I just went outside and cried at the end of the day...can't even imagine how it must feel to the family..and they (the parents, not the kids) were here to watch almost all day.  Now it's cranes, scoop loaders and dump trucks clearing out the debris.  Doesn't make for very quiet naptimes for the little ones, but doing the best we can.  Next will come the construction, so "quiet" won't come for a while, I guess.   Just pray they are able to work through all the insurance and finance mess, without a ton of stress.  they have all been through enough.

Also in the middle of planning an 80th birthday party for my mom...Help Yally!!!  Want to make it as special as possible, plus it will be nice to have something happy to concentrate on...my mom is a real love.   Right now looks like about 60 people...just have to firm up all the details. Hope it's not too hot that day...not near enough room in my house for everybody...yikes!

moanin everyone! well the surgery went fine. they put in a pain pump which lasts for 3 days (comes out this evening) that is pretty cool. it is pretty much numb. still have to take pain meds for the deep pain, and of course my RA is flaring in the oppisite hand and arm, and both feet, par for the course huh?

my prayers are with you all. always scared to ask, but i havent seen anything from bear, is everything ok? and erin too? love to all, joy

Hi everyone!    been away for a bit been real sick still have a cough but am getting back to feeling like a human again!   Lots has happened since my last post!  not that you care I am gonna share anyway teehee........   well other than fever sore throat cough and exhaustion i went to see my rhuemmy for my regular check up......   well she wasnt too excited at my progress returning on enbrel this time so guess what?!  i start humira as soon as i get rid of my infections.   yes infections with an s!  see not only do i have a cold, but i got a sore on my heel (from not wearing flip flops jody!) but wearing sneakers tht rubbed and caused a little brush burn that is now oozing puss!  i think i have it under control as it just happened and no i did not let doc know just yet.  no red streaks just a large thick layer of puss!   so who is eating breakfast as they read my post??????  yum yum......  anyway with the cough and foot i have to wait a week or so but then it is no longer enbrel.  which i am kinda sad about cuz i thought it did a lot for me, but i still have a ton of inflammation in my hands shoulders etc that it is felt it is a better choice- plus i have lost 10 pounds over the past few months due to an overactive digestive system....... hows that for breakfast lingo?!  better than Diarrhea !  teehee......... and i guess humira works better with that type of systemic inflammation too.    so i guess that is it for now....... miss all of you and have to catch up on your posts........ hugs and hope all are doing well...oh and sorry to those of you who were eating as you read my post lol    happy anniversary c-m and m23  ..... jody did i hear party?????? whoohoo you know i am there!    Joan you alive??? i miss you..... well g2g2work hugs yally  it's been in the 90's here!  whoohoo

Joy, so glad to hear that your surgery went well! By now you must have had the pain pump removed...are you still doing ok?  No, it's been a bit since we've heard from our dear Bear and/or Erin...wish we would though..miss them both alot, praying they are both ok.  Boo's been quiet again, too...been going to shoot her an e-mail to see if things are ok out her way.  Been so many bad storms and all...I start to worry.  you know, that's one thing that is different about me since I got on this forum..I REALLY watch the weather maps now...wondering how all our "family" is doing in the different parts of the country.

Yally....I feel so bad that you've been having such a rough time sad    However.....thank you much for taking away my breakfast appetite lol!  Just kidding, ya know, but seriously...I sure hope the humira does the trick for you, you poor thing...just watch that yucky sore on your foot!   Doesn't sound very good to me..ick.A little paranoid about foot sores since I have a diabetic son.    Yes, planning a party for a week from Saturday. You HAVE to come!  No one knows how to throw a better party than you do..I NEED you...what if I promise to serve gummy worms?

Ducky...how did the doc appt go?  Wasn't it today? Hoping you've had some news on the job searches by now, too.

Finally getting some rain here the past couple of days, badly needed, too.  We've had record-setting heat...which with everything combined makes the joints feel really, really nice. Forgot to tell you all!  In between all the fire and everything, we finally got the peanut-butter family room ...love the color, have gotten a lot of compliments, but sort of lost the whole excitement of it all because of our neighbors tragedy. Felt too guilty to enjoy the improvement to our home when they had lost so much. So very eerie to see that empty lot next door.....

Gotta go get some laundry done while the kiddies are asleep..check back with you all later.

Hey everyone..   Happy Tuesday!   Well, today is officially my last day in the Air Force.. tomorrow I will be ‘retired’.. hhmm.. still kinda on the fence about those feelings..      Anyhow – job search is going slow… everything is apply online.. and you never get any feedback after you do that.. well, you very rarely get feedback.. and it’s so frustrating… but I do have a couple   leads.. I just have to be patient (and that’s not my strong suit) so we’ll see..      I did have my doctor’s appointment today.. well, my appendix is fine.. as is my right ovary.. no cysts.. however, I do have a cyst on my left ovary, and some tissue on it that’s not supposed to be there.. they said I have a rectus hemangioma as well.. but that shouldn’t be causing my pain either.. OH, and they think I might need my gallbladder out.. apparently it is full of ‘sludge’ and gallstones.. great.. so I have an appointment with the General Surgeon on Thursday to discuss the Gallbladder, rectus hemangioma and tissue hanging off/around my left ovary.. and I am being referred to a GYN for the cyst…   Just another day in paradise.. how is everyone here?

Ducky, I don't know what to say. I am sorry you were forced into retirement and hope you find a job you love soon. I will be praying that everything works out okay for you medically. In the meantime try not to focus so hard on the job search that you forget to have some fun each day-you deserve that.
Jody-you and I have the same weather recently-bad storm (our power was out for a few days) followed by record breaking heat and now we are getting more bad storms but cooler air behind it. I hope you find some relief from the weather soon.
Yally, good to hear from you again and I am glad you are feeling better.
I am finally off prednisone and doing well now just have to do something about these alergies-without the pred they are driving me crazy.

I guess I need to clarify things.. It's not so much the fact that I WANT a job.. but the fact that I NEED a job.. I stress over my jobsearch, because I am now NOT drawing an income.. and with 3 children fast approaching their teen years, this is not what we needed.. it couldn't have come at a worse time.. It's not like I was making a ton of money before, that's not the case.. but what I was making, went towards several bills in our household, as well as all the food... now EVERYTHING has to come out of hubby's paycheck.. and you can only stretch that so far.. It's hard to have fun and enjoy the day, when you are worried about how you are going to survive tomorrow..

Ducky,

I'm sorry to hear about your cysts! If you do end up having a cystectomy, please be sure to ask your doctor about the wrapping that can be put around your ovary to prevent scar tissue adhesions (this can cause much pain down the road) I can't think of what it is called..sorry! But after my first cystectomy, I developed awful scar tissue, and my ovary ended up adhering to my pelvic wall. I had to have another surgery a couple of years later and on my second surgery I had a really great RE who put something around my ovar to protect against further adhesions.

hey momto3.. thanks for that advice.. I'll keep that in mind.. the doc I was talking to today, was saying that hopefully the general surgeon and GYN can go in at the same time to look at thinks and determine what they are going to do.. If you don't mind me asking, what type of pain did you have with the cysts? Is the fact that I haven't had any pain in my left side normal? Especially since it's gotten bigger?

Ducky, I hope all goes well.  I had those (yes, those) many times before my hysterectomy.  One time the doc told me the cyst was as large as his fist.  They always resolved themselves but I sure got tired of it.  And the pain.  Bless you.

Hubby has another appointment tomorrow and we are going to ask some tough questions as he is still in pain in the lower colon.  I know he has a very diseased colon.  He is gaining weight, up by 10 lbs. since coming home.  But that continuous pain is scaring me half to death.  I'm worried he's going to have another perforation in the middle of the night. 

Got another dang nodule on my wrist.  My gosh!  You tell your body not to do that stuff and it does it anyway.

So good to hear from you! I'm sorry to hear your hubby is in such pain though..I hope his doctor figures out what is going on and get his pain under control.  How are you doing?

Ducky...My cyst pain would usually be on the side with the cyst BUT at times I would have pain on the opposite, how crazy is that? and I would also have pain in my lower back, almost like a heavy pressure type feeling.  No it isn't uncommon to not have pain and some ladies don't even know they have a cyst until they go in for a check up and there it is.  For me I wasn't that lucky and every time I have had one, I have had awful pain and my pain would increase the larger the cyst would become.  I don't have a high tolerance for pain so that is just the way I am.  If you aren't having any discomfort with it, they usually take a wait and see attitude unless it looks abnormal on the u/s.  However, if it keeps growing, larger than say 5/6cm and doesn't resolve after 2 or 3 cycles that would be cause for concern.  When I was having all of my cyst issues a few months back, I was having them first on one side than on the other, eventually having them on both sides at the same time, and I think my body was really out of whack because I was under a great deal of stress at the time.  One of my cysts  filled with some tissue etc and it was nothing serious..it ended up resolving on its own.

hhmm.. my left side doesn't hurt at all.. but apparently this cyst was there 2 years ago, and has now gotten bigger.. I didn't even know it was there 2 years ago.. I wonder if the Surgeon will say something about it tomorrow.. or if I'll have to wait for the GYN.. they said something about tissue too..

Hang in there, Ducky.  This is all you need right now. 

Doc is doing a CT scan on hubby on Tuesday and we're going to a specialist in the city.  We should find out something soon. 

I guess I'll be seeing my rheumy sooner than later.  Not scheduled to go back until Oct. but my hands and wrist are not going to let me wait that long.   Hate to be Wendy Whiner but moving on to the methotrexate scares me.  Don't know why.  GI issues are at the top of my worry list these days with what hubby has been going through.  Too many other things to worry about right now and I really need for my body to not break down just yet.  Ha!  Dropping stuff like crazy. 

At least it a-l-m-o-s-t the wekend.

Hi  Ducky..

Are you sure it is the same cyst? Two years is an awful long time to have a cyst on your ovary unless your doctor has been monitoring it frequently through u/s? I would think your ovary has been producing cysts off and on and you had one the last time you were there and again at this last visit? But probably not the same one. Cysts don't always cause pain that is true..for me, I'm just one of those that it does! When I was having problems with cysts a few months back, I had one on my right side and it eventually burst and I had a really sharp pain and then a week later went in for another u/s and was producing another one..at one point, I had cysts growing on both ovaries.  My hormones were really out of whack.  One of mine, the first one did have some tissue inside of it, but it eventually disolved.  Hopefully your doctor will be able to give you some more information.  Please keep us posted as I have never heard of this before.

Boo...I know it's scary but the MTX is really not that bad and usually doesn't cause any of the GI issues at least that I know of, or it hasn't for me..I think that is more of that Plaquenil that I have heard people mention.  Please take care of you and go see the doc!

Ducky, hang in there. You have SO much on your plate right now, it is not even funny. Just tackle each day as they come and remember to take a few moments each day for yourself to breathe deep, re-focus and (attempt) to relax your mind. I know, I know, MUCH easier said than done.

Boo, try not to stress about the methotrexate. The best advice I can give you to help lower any side-effects is WATER: drink, drink, drink, drink, drink! And drink MORE. Also, get your folic acid and b vitamins in every day! I don't recall ahving bowel issues, though I did have other side-effects. But no one told me how imperative the b vitamins and extra folic acid was until it was too late - I had already been on methx 10 months at that point.  My PCP at that point said, "take 4-5 folic acids in the morning and then a B complex vitamin at night."  She was considering giving me B vitamin shots if that didn't help. Anyway, if you think/the doc thinks, the med might help, give it a try and if you feel rotten on it, stop it. I know a lot of people who have had NO problems with it whatsoever, and quite a few who had minimal issues that weren't enough anything so bad to get them to stop taking it.

moanin everyone! and a moanin moanin it is! looks like i stillhave rsidual infections going on so no meds this weekend again which islike shy of a month and i am one hurtin puppy. but this too shall pass so dont be concerned just moanin cuz i can. fingers are not typing as i would like and shoulders are inflammed. neck feels twisted and hips burnin. so how is your day folks lol ........ no more breakfast tales to tell. lol

the weather is crazy on our globe and i pray for all who have been under the weather radar screens. keep safe and well. here it is hot! ya all can come vivit cuz it feels like the south here. not complainin.

raven you getting any hot weather? TGIF for sure! the weeks seem to pass me so quickly i dont know if i am coming or going these days........

ducky i never told my surgeon about the huge cyst i have on my ovary. i think it is 11mm which i am told is huge? but it doesnt bother me so i havent bothered it! maybe according to m23 it is gone? idk havent been back to get an update s/g and your gallbaldder too! am i contagous?
now the bummer question duck.....with allthis going on are you under hubbies health insurance? i am stillprayin for you hoping the cash will start coming in again. we would loose our house if i lost my job. so i do pray for you . (((((hugs)))))))

jody so how is the party planning going????? i would love to cook in your new kitchen! hmmmmmm what shall we serve????? seems with todays prices of everything all i am going to afford is spam! gosh get me off this ride of everything costing so much! i actually have put in a small garden to feed us for a week or too...lol oh well

Yally, It is good to see you posting and what I want to know is there something about these meds that make the gallbladder act up? because it seems to me that there are several here who have had issues?? or maybe I am just being a little paranoid? You have a cyst that large and it doesn't hurt? sheesh girl you must have a high tolerance for pain!! or yeah it must have went away :) because it would be the size of what? :-) anyway that is huge.

Prices are pretty ridiculous at this point, and going to the store can be pretty depressing can't it? we also started a small vegetable garden and some of the veggies are looking a bit puney, but hopefully they will take off and start to florish.  I have put my 14 year old son in charge of watering them... eyes he told me last night he didn't think the cucumbers were going to make it..and I asked if he had watered them the night before and he said no he had forgot... tongue At the rate they get water..they may not!

Are you supposed to be taking Enbrel?? if you are and can't take it, I'm so sorry you are hurting, I think its the worst when you have to keep starting and stopping it, because it is like starting all over again with it, and the times I have had to stop, I go down hill pretty fast. Can your doctor give you something to get you over the hump until you can take your other meds?

Oh and yes, TGIF!!! I have been taking this weight training class and getting up at 5am is killing me!!!!!!
