Hi all,

Greetings from soggy, drippy, moldy Florida....I think I am being to mildew! Seriously, we have been most forunate to have dodged the worst of this terrible storm..we've had rain, but nothing too bad. Our son lives on the other side of the state, right in the middle of where all the flooding has been the worst...thankfully, he and his home are fine, but many are not. Now they are warning us about a couple more systems in the tropics...such is life during hurricane season.  Don't know which part of me hates the weather fronts worse...sinuses or joints, but I think it's a close tie.  Otherwise, not in bad shape for the same I'm in lol (that would probably be round!!).

Sure do hear you, Camama, wish we could find a pill that gives us willpower....wouldn't THAT be nice!!  Haven't done much exericising at all myself, lately...had some issues with the management at the gym Iwas going to. mainly their horrible treatment of an elderly lady there, so my friends and I left.  Just can't put my money into a business like that. So...just found another place to go, not far from home, so going to get started again this week, hopefully.  If I could just control my horrible sweet tooth,  I would be ok! Anything sugar-coated or chocolate covered within a mile radius just isn't safe around me...I'm absolutely terrible about my diet.

The storm must be killer on your joints!

I have been going to a gym that is great for the older people in our area. They're the best ones to talk to when I go walk in the pool. I've met quite a few that have or know someone who has FM or RA and at least knows what I'm talking about when I say joint pain. The other people my age just look at me funny when I walk the lap lane back and forth. The "more experienced" ones know what I am doing. They have ideas on how to get moving while you hurt. I don't think I would still be going to the gym -or feel as good as I do now- without the support I have gotten from the older people at the gym.

Just to let you know- I have swelled up like a balloon on the prednisone (I wasn't small to begin with, mind you) and most of the time when I talk to the trainers and others my age, the resounding message is "loose weight and you will feel better." My husband says that at work (a hospital) they call the prednisone weight gain "moon face" because it shows in the face so much. I agree- I've noticed my face is so swollen and round. It wasn't that way before. I'm hoping that since I am more active than I was before (just now in the water) and the scale hasn't moved, and my clothing size has gone up as I swelled, that as the swelling goes down, so will the scale number.

My husband has been down in the cardio room every day for an hour. He's lost 15 lbs in the last couple months. It shows a lot more because he has also put on upper body muscle in the weight room. Even though I love it...... ah hum...... it makes me sick because I can't work out like that with him and the weight is melting off of him while I swell up. I told him that eventually we will look like the # 10.

Anyway, it has been a good day. I moved in the pool today. I was on 800 MO for a while today, but when it wore off I didn't replace it. Even though I have some joint pain, it's manageable for a while and I figure I will give my gullet and my liver a rest while I can. I didn't even take a darvocet today. This is the best pain level that I have had in months.

Jody- I hope you dry off some before the next wave hits. I've been through hurricanes and their not fun- even on the outskirts. I hope your son stays safe.

glad to hear people are nice and understanding to you...in the little upstate town where i live it does not matter if you are old or young, if you can crazy enough to live here...you fit in. people are very polite and men always open the door, etc. they are very taciturn here and hardly say a word anyway!!!

the pa told me not to expect results from shot #1. i go for two more. there was no side effects so that is good news.

hi...thanks christina...did not know there was an expanded list. i checked about six months ago and was delighted that one script was on their list. i find them to be very professional but it is a drive to get there so most of my stuff is done more local. will check out their new list.

i looked it up and did not see anything else i can use on the walmart list. get my second shot tomorrow and hope to swim afterwards. we have one outdoor pool in the area which is still open....want to enjoy the last swim of summer.

  I have to laugh, mom...I'm the same way...yet, what did I do last Saturday in Phoenix? Get sunburned. <sigh> i'm an idiot.

Good  morning I hope it stops raining - well its raining here in downtown Nash Mills [just over the boundary from Apsley]. I have finally sold my old house and it has come just in the nick of time as next month I would have been right up guano creek withut a paddle or the dollars to make the payment on the bridging loan that enabled us to move in February and not lose the house we are now in. Thanks for the emails peeps they sure meant a lot. Have been very busy with work and my arthritis has not been an issue since my second hip replacement last year when I discovered this thread, but I still like to pop in at times as it is a more entertaining thread than the pd one - parkinson's forr those new peeps who may not know me.

Been following your primaries and conventions with interest - its ok thread police not going political merely observational - we get a lot of coverage over here, much more than you get of our potical conferences etc. Mind you, have watched Fox News now and then for a laugh and all they are short of is Homer Simpson reading the news such is its grasp of foreign affairs. What you may not have heard about is research currently being undertaken at a British University Hospital into an injectable 'cure' for RA. I shall try and find the report in the 'Guardian Online' newspaper and put it in a link. I cannot remember how it is supposed to work but it is supposed to repair the auto immune system in aa way not possible up to now. I believe they are only in the early stages of research but early indications are very encouraging and the finished product may be as close as 5 years away - but we all know the types of thins that can suddenly go awry in research right up to the last minute - but fingers crossed eh?

 

All teh usual partners in crime how are you? My road trip is still on course for next July so get those mattresses ready and evict the dog from his basket cos the bear is coming. Yally you can brush up on your chatlines to hotel maitre d's and reception staff. Erin, I have every intention off hitting NY so you and hunny better start getting the beer in now.

Boo how do I get to Oklahoma? Turn left at Alberquerque as Bugs Bunny would say? Yally does it snow in July and do I need to bring a pully? [that's local vernacular in Liverpool for a pullover or a woolly jumper but that may confuse you even more and its nothinng to do with sheep doing the high jump.]

Why not pay a visit to teh forum I am active in in the UK - PDUK for  people with PD - see what a bunch of pd-ers do for each other - very similar to you guys, a good bunch who talk about everything and anything as well as pd.

Time to do the shopping and ironing so its time to wake Momma Bear - ONLY JOKING - this is an equality zone where we all share and take turns aand its my turn for domestic duty this weekend.

I'm good.. been very busy lately with kids/work/school/home.. you know.. they usuals.. seems as though with my new job I have even less time to do anything.. I always feel like I am running around with my tail on fire.. but I am getting used to it (to a point)... By the end of the week, I'm just exhausted.. I was off yesterday due to TS Hannah coming through.. we just got some wind and rain.. nothing too bad.. I was pretty worried about Hurrican Ike, but it looks like he is headed for the Gulf Coast.. Jody, he's coming your way.. Oh those poor people in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama.. looks like it might hit ya'll.. please please please be careful..

 

Today, we are just hanging out at the house and enjoying the fact that it is FOOTBALL SEASON AGAIN.. WOO-HOO!  I love College and Pro-Football.. My team (Arizona State) doesn't play til tonight.. so until then, I'm watching all the other games.. then on Monday night at 1015pm, my Pro team plays.. Yes, I am a Raiders fan.. and they are playing Denver.. so excited..

 

Ok, where is everyone?  Erin has been MIA for a while, as well as Yally.. Hhhhmmm.. I might have to be making some phone calls this weekend.. or at the very least, sending texts.. I gotta make sure everyone is ok..

Happy Sunday everybody,

Thought I would peek my head out from behnd the storm shutters long enough to say "hi".  Sorry have been a way for a bit, between the hurricanes outside and the five little "tornados" I have inside during the week...it's been a little hectic around the homefront.

Not sure where the days(and weeks) fly to anymore, but boy, they do fly!  No babies here anymore, all the kids I watch are officially toddlers, everyone is on their feet and in perpetual motion it seems. Makes for some busy days...like chasing chickens, or herding cats, or..you get the idea...they all go in different directions at the same time, and they do it FAST!  

Watching football today...I love football season too, Ducky..but am in a bit of a quandry now, have to watch the Jets and the Packers I guess...cuz I still love Brett Farve..he's my guy no matter what. Never got into college ball that much, although I kind of like the Wisconsin Badgers and FSU for sentimental reasons.

We are all keeping a close eye on Ike...the next couple of days should tell how scared we need to be, really sets you on edge.. These storms are so nerve-wracking....praying it will just change it's mind, turn back around, and not hit anybody.....

ok, gotta go, halftime is over...will check in again later.

I need to moan.....massive headache....ow....pain...is it the antibiotics, my blood pressure, or just tweaked out of shape body? Whatever it is, it won't go away and it's making me nauseaus....

Ducky....Ouch thats not good!!! Did you ever get your surgery taken care of? Let us know what the doc says. I'm sorry you are in pain :( That is so true, it IS always something

Camama..Headaches are so unpleasant...with antibiotics I always end up with the horrid yeast infections, but maybe you get headaches. Have you tried the excederin migraines? I have those work really well...I hope you feel better soon too!!!

It's a Monday and cold...only 50 degrees out yuck! I guess Fall is around the corner. Bear...so good to see you post!!
