Haha!! Mom....the "guns" are my biceps....the girls, are well..you know what those are....sorry, I guess I should have explained better.  Didn't used to have those either until I hit my forties for some reason, then I just don't now what happened, like I hit puberty all over again..lol!    Probably a bit too much info..right????? 

Wish I know what the sleep thing was all about, CaMama...did it again last night...went to bed at 11, wide awake at 4am....yeesh!!  But I stayed in bed, then just dozed, awake at 5, 6 , then gave up at 7.  Already been to Sam's and another store, emptying the checkbook on supplies for Thanksgiving dinner. Knew if I didn't get out early the stores would be crazy...and they are!  Now it's off to take the dogs to the groomers and a bunch of other errands.

Oh!  Had an idea for our German guest...found out she LOVES tea, so going to find her a pretty teacup, and a few samples of different teas.  (actually it was my sister who said to find out if she likes tea, so I can't take credit heehee).  But, I hope I find something special today.   Then tomorrow I HAVE to clean house and work in the yard after church, if the weather co-operates anyway.

Will be another busy weekend for me!

Jody.... turn Well of course you met biceps!! and yes the girls are well smilewinkgrin Sadly for me they have been a curse since junior high but it looks like my little girl will not have that problem thank goodness.  As for the biceps that is fabulous! I still have the whole wave wiggle happening, but I figure maybe I have the winter to get it under control rolleyes

I too have the sleep problem even when I took the Lunesta and now the Trazadone, it seems I've never been able to sleep a full 8 hours at least not in several years.  I can't remember the last time that happened.

That is so nice about the tea cup and assortment of teas, I think that sounds like a wonderful gift idea! My daughters teacher a few years ago loved tea and we did something similar but I took her to a pottery shop and she painted a mug for her teacher and we placed an assortment of teas and honey inside the mug.

I know what you mean about cleaning the house!  Everywhere I look, in each room there is something to be done!! Today my daughter is meeting friends at the mall and I'm the designated mom to chaperone them around while they "shop" for a few hours.  It seems lately if I can stay on top of the laundry, dishes and vacuming it is a good week here!

with that said i was out most of yesterday and didnt go through my front door and low and behold today i did to get the papaer and there was a box on my porch!!!!

how long has it been there?  i think just yesterday???  anyway you are toooooooo much my love!  and you know me sooooooooooooooo well it is scarey!

here still crazy things havent stopped at all on my meds and i have been tryong to take extra iron to avoid a transfussion.  feeling tired but not letting it stop me.  thursday my mother in law had her heart converted agaoin and friday we rushed her in again only to find out she has pnuemonia.  of course i have a chest xray ordered cuz my cough is over 2 months old too but i am not getting it cuz i know it wil show my spots and then the whole thing will go off with ctscans etc and i have enough on my plate right now so ....... that one is on my back burner.....

 

i dont know if i should take my mtx this weekend or not?  i think i might put out a new post and ask if it effects hemoglobin levels.  i cant reduce it any more and am worried it might?

 

getting ready for my holiday and still inviting people i dont know who have no where to go.  i will have 4 new peps at my table of which i dont know 3 at all. they are a friend of the 4th.  hopeing i can pull this holiday off without a ***ch..... 

 

german guest jody????  where have i been?  lala land!  ich sprechen deutch. nicht ganz gut aber un bissel.  oh and i cant write it too good either hahahaha.

Yally my dear... you have so much going on and you will be the host for turkey day? Well, I would say you're a little bit whacky but my MIL is the same way, just can't keep her down either no matter what!! Bless you for having others to your home with no where else to go :-) You mentioned that you are in need of a chest x-ray? I do understand putting these things off until a later date. There are a few things I have put off like my crazy ovary that seems to have a mind of its own but who has time to go in and go through all of that? So for now I just put up with the pesty thing!

This is the morning for my cystoscopy and I feel like it is a bit of a waste of time, since really I just have an over active bladder...this sometimes happens after you have children? I just want to be able to drink water like a normal human, and I'm pretty certain I don't have anything abnormally wrong with my bladder etc *sigh* but it seems like I must go through all of this JUST to get something for my overactive bladder.

Yally...I had low levels at one time for whatever reason but when they were tested by my rheumy a month later he said they were normal..I guess it depends on if your levels are consistently low? are you feeling puney? maybe call your rheumy and ask about the mtx since that can be a side effect of that medication. I know it is difficult to go down on the dosage!

Just wanted to pop in quick this morning and wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving!!  I know it's been a really really rough year for many of us here....but I'm so glad we've had each other to help get us through.  Even though the thread has been awfully quiet these days, and I really miss all our "posters" I am hoping that they peek in now and again to read the posts.  If so, a big, warm turkey hug to all of you, my friends.  Enjoy the holiday....and here's to better days ahead!

smilewinkgrin  I am almost embarrassed to post.  Been AWOL tooooooo long.  Working 12 hours days....don't ask......BUT the closing on the biz is 2nd week of Feb.  Hooooray!  Can't wait.

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I am cooking the turkey and pies and eating at daughter's house.  No clean up.

Closed the biz until Monday and I'm kicking back.

Boo, so good to hear from you and I understand about being busy! I'm happy to hear that everything is finally starting to slow down for you, and that you are taking a few days off to unwind.

We went to my inlaws and it was almost like a mini vacation since they have amenities that we do not have at home (hot tub, direct tv etc) oh and can't forget the junk food, the kids had a fabulous time at grandmas tongue

I have a quick question for you all: I'm scheduled for an endoscopy on Friday the 12th. They said they are going to put me "under" and do a biopsy - I forgot that was the weekend of my daughter's bday party on the following day (Sat) and a road trip on Sun to visit family. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this all the same weekend? Unless there are complications (God forbid), I should be better by Saturday morning, right? Anesthesia should not be an issue,right? Do I need to "be careful" for a couple of days due to the biopsy? Does anyone know? Should I reschedule the procedure again?

Oh, CaMama...very good question. Not knowing anything about an endoscopy, I wish I could answer that question. I do know that I am a very cheap date when it comes to anesthesia and would not be full awake until Monday. I sure hope you're ok.

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I just got back from my appointment with my Rhuemy-she is awesome. For some reason when I go see her and I whine she always tells me I am fine. When I go in their and tell her I am fine she finds things I did not know about. Today she told me the fat pad under my big toe on my right foot is gone and I should get inserts for my shoes to cushion that (I thought I had a bruise on the bottom of my foot).
She and I have been arguing about plaquenil for months now and I think this time its settled-she told me to go to one per day and call her if I want to go back to two-but, she wrote the script for two per day so that I would have them if I need them.
Unfortunately she also told me she may no longer be taking my insurance after Feb 1. That would be really bad.
I have been really busy starting tricare work and doing some private work but as things settle down I hope to stop by the boards a bit more frequently.

Sj...Good to see you post, and I didn't know we could lose the fat pad under our foot? is that due to the RA? I guess there is always something new!  Sorry to hear about your insurance..we went throught that as well, and will again after Jan 1..We lost our primary care doctor and I'm still searching for a replacement.  Fingers crossed you don't lose your rheumy!

I had planned on having a relaxing weekend, but ended up at the ER until 1am this morning having a  CT scan and U/S, turned out to be nothing serious except for a cyst of the ovary, and they gave me enough morphine to kill a horse shocked so I guess I must have quite a tolerance because it didn't really help much.  They told me to come back if I had a fever, which today it's 101, but there really isn't much they can do for me there! But tack on more money rolleyes

Mom, feel better! Obviously, you're not a horse if it didn't affect you too much! LOL. Seriously, if your fever gets any worse, I'd at least give them a call if not go in...

SJ, I feel your pain with loosing a doctor...espeically with a good rhuemy....I lost 3 doctors this year for various reasons, one being the first rhuemy I liked in years!

Hey Mom...how are you??? I'm so sorry you are having another rough go of it!  Did you end up having to go back to the doc?

CaMama..how was your trip?  What did you decide to do about the endoscopy?  I would think you should be ok...normally they tellyou just to make sure someone is with you for the rest of the day...but maybe you could call and explain the situation to them and why you're concerned?

Hi Sj...been wondering if you were ok..glad to see you back!  So sorry about your doc..that really stinks...went through that with my gyn..now I just pay her out-of-pocket, I love her too much to change.  Entirely different with the rhuemy though...I only have to see the gyn once a year.

Well, Thanksgiving was awesome!!  The German girl is an absolute doll..I was so sad to see her go..and yes, she did LOVE the tea.  I'm not sure how they will work this out between Memphis and Berlin...but they are going to try.  She lost her mother a few years, ago, and has no close family to speak of, so to be around our huge crowd was quite a change for her.  But, she seemed to soak it all up, and couldn't thank us enough for making her feel so welcome. (You know, everyone was on their very best behavior, if she stuck around any longer she would have seen the REAL us!! LOL).  I really was in my glory, having all the boys home..it was so much fun.  A wonderful thing to watch them all interact and realize that not only do they love each other as brothers, but they honestly like each other too.  We laughed so much!  Sure didn't know that this would ever happen.  When my husband and I first got married we could only pray that the day would come that the boys would all feel like they belonged together. Gosh, there was so much fighting...didn't really think we'd make it!

Bear!!!!!   How are things over your way?  Have missed you...hope all is well!   How is the family?

Boo...got your e-mail...so glad things are good with you..and that you'll get to slow down soon!  Yeah!!   Promise to get a note out to you soon.

Hello everyone.

Yes, the fat pad being gone is due to the RA-inflamation in the joints at the base of my foot did something to the tendons so the bone dropped through the pad-yuck.

I won't lose my doctor because I will just pay her myself as long as I can I can't see myself trusting another rhuemy mine is the best.

rolleyes   redface having said that she changed my meds on monday-down to one plaq and I feel like I  have been hit by a bus then all the passangers got out taking care to step on my hands on their way out.

I guess I will have to call her-but she will want me to give this more time.

Good Morning Everyone,my back and hips are hurting bad. I just took my pain meds . I ended up laying on the heating pad last night. I hope everyone has a low pain weekend. I will be back on Monday.

OKay, I see that everyone is as busy as I am! It took 9 days between posts!? WOW.

I had the endoscopy on Friday and get results tomorrow. I think the initial diagnosis is everything looks normal w/the exception of some inflammation somewhere...but they are attributing that to the RA meds? I don't know....I was pretty out of it and my husband wasn't 100% what the doc or nurse was telling him. They took a biopsy to test for celiac disease and I know he's sending me in for some bloodwork for something? I'll know more tomorrow.

OMG - you will not believe this, it RAINED almost all day today! It NEVER does that in San Diego! Of course, it still doesn't come down in sheets like it does most other places, but nonetheless, it stormed all day.

Camama..Everyone is very busy! I'm glad your endoscopy went well, and this is the where they put the thin tube down your throat? I'm also having one done to see why I can't eat more than a small amount of food before feeling stuffed!  Was it painful at all?  How uncomfortable was it? The Gastro's  office called and left a message for me to schedule my procedure, but I'm terrified! I was supposed to schedule it on Friday and here it is Tuesday sad I read that during the procedure they will need me to be awake enough to follow directions (swallowing etc) I'm really afraid I'm going to feel like I'm choaking on the tube.

I'm so glad your results were normal!

Well, let me tell you - I was having panic attacks about the whole thing, and even cried during prep. eyes

The nurse explained, they are not using anesthesia, they sedate you. Typically, you are essentially asleep the whole time, but apparently conscious enough to follow directions. I had one when I was 14 and woke up briefly enough to hear the doctor tell me it was going to feel like I was swallowing a chunk of raw meat and then later, "yup, she's got it allright" (they were checking for ghiardia). However, this time, I don't remember a thing. I remember starting to fall asleep and saying, 'take good care of me' (I was still a bit panicy because I was having asthma issues and panic attacks and that freaked me out thinking what if one hit while I had a tube down my throat - hmmm, sound familiar? tongue   and then being wheeled in to recovery. I had a mild sore throat for about 3 days - nothing too bad, and it got better each day.

As my friend at work said, 'Better you double check nothing is wrong NOW rather than skip the procedure only to find out 6 months from now that something was seriously wrong and it's too late to fix it."

I'm about to get ready to go to the appointment. We'll see what he says.

Thanks Camama! That is where I am at this point, just feeling panicky..almost claustrophobic thinking about it.  I had a cystoscopy a few weeks ago and it was just a local used, and the nurse said I wouldn't feel anything..ouch! and it was similar, a tube with the camera on it..it felt like I was on fire. I don't recommend having that done as an in office procedure sad   I just don't like having these things done, but your friend is so correct that it is best to do it now rather than later find out something serious is wrong.

I hope the appointment goes well for you, thinking positive thoughts! I will look around for the number and force myself to make an appointment.

turn  Is there anybody in there? Merry Christmas to all our readers - those who are still around - where is everybody? I hope that all of you had a very restful Christmas and that you are not over gorged. I am having difficulties with swollen lower limbs and it is puzzling as to what is the cause of this. Without taking chemicals to resolve the issue can somebody recommend a natural remedy to ease the fluid retention I would be very grateful.

The bear cub is now a vdery large bear cub that is doing his best to try and scupper his wducation before it has began but he is now old enough to learn from his mistakes and if he makes a ballls of his exams he will have t resit later in the year.

I am still on course to retire at the end of may/June or july but ebcause of the stance the pension fund is taking I am probably going to have to go off on permanent sick leave to get the full benefits = apparently because I ma currently working I am capable of work  adn as I said to the man on the phone, 'what part of chronic, degenerative, neurological condition don't you understand?' And then it's sitting on a check out time at Asda - Costco your side of the pond.

Hope you all had a very blessed Christmas!

Have missed all of you, am so sorry I have been MIA.  Just my life lately, too many things going on to list them all...but we are doing our best to hang in there, please know you are all never far from my heart.

We had a really nice holiday though, all but one of the boys were here, and, though I didn't cook and bake as in years past, we still had more than enough sugar and chocolate to go around!  Our youngest son got engaged on Christmas Eve..yikes!  We are all very happy, they have been going together for several years, just doesn't seem possible that my "baby" is old enough to get married...shed a few tears over the very idea of it all.  They don't plan to have a wedding for a couple of years, they want to get school finished and some debts paid first, so no date set yet.

My friend had surgery for breast cancer a couple of weeks ago, and the results were very good.  So far, they have told her the lymph nodes were clear, and that possibly she won't need chemo, just radiation.  Much, much answered prayer! Have been trying to help as much as I can, meals, etc.  But she is doing so well.

Bear! How good to see your post!  Like you, I miss everyone very much.. and hope you are all well.  As far as the fluid problem...one thing that always works for me is green tea with lemon.  I make it by the quart and put some lemon juice and sweetener in it.....usually try to drink two of those a day when I am swelling.  It does help flush out the system!  I hope they can get your pension figured out...how frustrating!  Like we have all said before..if only those folks had to walk in our shoes for even a day..they would have a whole different attitude.I pray it is easier on your side of the pond to get those things done than what poor Erin had to go through over here....

Bear, sorry to hear you are struggling right now. I'll have to try the Green tea cure myself if I can stand to swallow it (I haven't liked it in the past)...my knee has a big bulge on it I can't get rid of.

Hanging in there...brought the new year in with a cold I thought was almost completely gone, taking a sudden turn in to a sore throat and severely congested chest....got only 2 hours of sleep on the first night of the year. shakehead

Happy New Year Everyone!

It has been a restful Holiday break with hubby home with me.  I will try to catch up on the posts at some point but probably not until next week when everyone is back at school and work.

Camama, so sorry you are sick, I was sick as well twice over my vacation, it is not pleasant I know rolleyes I hope you will be on the mend very soon.
