Just thought I'd put in my two cents about dental issues. Long before I start on any prescriptions meds for my arthritis, I developed gum disease and also had several bouts of Iritis (a problem with my eyes). The doctors said that these problems are common with arthritis and immune problems. I had gum surgery and now go for cleanings every three months, alternating with my periodontist and my regular dentist.
I've been on Humira since August and it's helped my arthritis tremendously. knock on wood haven't had a problem with my eyes for about a year and a half (was having problems twice a year). As for my gums - holding my own. Have an apt. with my periodontist this week. I have one really bad area and have to get another bridge some time soon but so far have held onto my teeth. If anything I would think the Enbrel, Humira etc, would help these problems. I don't think anyone really knows yet.
But I would see a dentist regularly and if needed, a good periodonist.
Hope this info. helps
