I've wondered about what would happen if I ruined one myself. I use the syringe, and the instructions say if you strike a blood vessel you're supposed to discard the dose. I do keep an empty syringe/needle around in case I damage the needle (by dropping on floor, for example).
I would call my insurance carrier and ask what to do. If they say sorry, but no extras, there is an alternative to waiting two weeks. You can just think of yourself as taking 25 shots over the next year instead of 26 shots. If you do that, you would space your shots every 14.6 days (365 divided 25) instead of every 14 days (365 divided by 26). So you could space your "mistake" over a year by delaying your shot just one day every month. I doubt that would make a huge difference.
