Hi im a newbie here but am wondering if anyone one else has been using humira injections and have had pelvic pains whilst using humira!?

Im on quite a few drugs for ra which methotrexate, voterol and im slowly coming off Prednisolone!

I am also starting to pills again for protecting the stomach area omeprazole, i do admit i have not been the best at taking these pills, mainly as i hate the thought of taking so many drugs!

I also have an underactive thyroid!

Unfortuantly my stomach pains, the side of my stomach and right leg area got so painful last weekend i could not even lie down without crying from the pain, the pain, i have at least had this twice before, however this time i also felt sick and dizzy!

My doctor is now trying now to figuring out if im experincing any other health problem, i did read on my humira leaflet that it is a possible side effect with 1 in 10 people to experience abdominal pain, but however i am freaking out that this might be something more serious with me!

I should also add my periods, bowel movements etc all seem to be perfectly normal, i do realise that i might have a cyst problem, but i have read recently that it is uncommon to experience pelvic pain with cyst problems, i dont know though rolleyes !

Any advice someone can give me would be great, thankyou

Hi Kalea, I once injected myself and instead of meeting resistance the whole way in with the needle seemed to go through into my abdomen. I also experienced stomach cramps but not in my leg. It went away on its own though. But having also had several cysts, you can have quite horrendous pain from cysts. But they are easy to diagnose with a pelvic ultrasound, I'm sure your doctorwill organise one for you if they are suspicious of cysts. The mis-injection pain was very mild in comparison. Thanks for the reply! I think as far as im aware im injecting myself ok, but however the doctors dont seem to know what is the matter is!

My stomach pains seem to last a day and then just go away, i think this is the second time i had this problem in about 4 months, at first unfortunatly i did not think anything of my cramps, apart from i had a fever!  I also had nausea this time round and felt generally quite ill!

The doctors dont seem to know what the problem is!

I rang my tnf nurse today and she has organsied for me to have an ultra sound of my stomach area, which she seems to think will show if there is a prob with the pelvis area too!

Just from having a general chat with my nurse she has told me it is possible i have been getting some side effects from taking methotrexate!

Who knows though, i just want to get to the bottom of what is going on! Its the not knowing thats the frustrating part!

If i do need to have a pelvic scan, can i ask did this hurt at all?? Im not the best when it comes to doctors fiddling about with me!

It depends on if you are cramping at the time, some technicians are so gentle you feel very little discomfort. Others push down really hard and it can be unpleasant. But generally its uncomfortable rather than painful. Ultrasounds shouldn't hurt. Usually its absolutely fine!!! Goodluck with it, golitho

Hi golitho i just had my ultra sound today, they only needed to give me the admoninal scan in the end and not a pelvic scan and the doctor did find a cyst, he said it is possible that the ra drugs might not of helped with this, but however is going to send me to a gyno!

Im just wondering if you dont mind sharing, how they normally treat cysts?
