Team approach to RA care?

I was wondering if any of you have a rheumy who uses a team approach to your care? I like my rheumy, she is caring and listens, but the only approach she has is meds --- which so far have given me no relief. I have been on Humera, mtx together for almost 3 months and no improvement. I take Lortab for the pain and couldn't live without the little relief it gives but I can't help but think there has to be something better or more. I am never without pain.

I also have RA and my rheumy only prescribes meds as well. I noticed you have Reglan in your list of meds, do you have GP?? Sorry to hear you are in pain, I have taken so many different meds and there are so many different combinations, it just depends on the person and finding the right mix. I've had it going on four years and right now I'm only on MTX and pain medication and it's pretty painful. Just go back to your doctor and be persistent, and tell him it isn't working, rate your pain on a scale of 1-10, that is what I usually do to get some results.

I agree with momto3, it can take awhile to find the right combination of meds before you find relief. Try using heatpads and have hot showers when you are in pain.
Alternatively - walking, yoga and swimming are great exersizes for when you are up to it.

Hi, my rheumy uses meds plus an OT for splints and tips on how to make my life easier plus I just had a course of hydro therapy which was absolutely wonderful and I can thoroughly reccommend. I also use heat pads/ hot showers to get me moving and ice after exercise or for swelling. I take panadeine forte (codeine and paracetamol) for bad days or sometimes to help me sleep if my hips are bad. Currently on humira, mtx and mobic which makes life manageable but not pain free, goodluck, living with RA is never easy. What works for some doesn't for others, its such a hit and miss treatment at times, golitho
