I think Plaquenil is changing how my meds work- ??

Hi everyone, I have been on Plaquenil for maybe a week or so. I take Ambien CR at bedtime, and usually it knocks me out and I sleep all night. However, I noticed that now I wake up at about 3 or 4 AM and have trouble getting back to sleep. Which is odd, because the Ambien CR is the one that has a coating on it to help you stay asleep.

  Also I have been on Celexa (an antidepressant) for about a month now and it seems like it was starting to make me feel agitated. I took Zoloft previously for about 10 years and it worked for a long time and then stopped working. I also cannot take any of the antidepressants that deal with norepinephreine and serotonin (like Elavil and Effexor) because they make me agitated. It may just be that Celexa is in that class of med also. I have to look it up again.

  Does anyone else experience this, that the DMARD you are on changes the way your other meds work? Is this normal? Should I let my rheumy know or just keep an eye on things? Thanks!

Hi Moggy, I'd ask your doctors too, often combination meds work aganst each other. I often get wired by different meds and simply can't sleep. I've learnt to get up and read or watch classic tv channels!!End up watching ancient re runs of MASH or Matlock, even Ironside!!! Not good, I try to not drink caffeine in the afternoon and have herbal teas to try and calm me down.

But for me it is a continuous battle between pain vs meds and sleep. Goodluck, golitho
