Enbrel allergic reactions

Has anyone had allergic reactions to Enbrel? After the 2nd injection I had noticed my face getting red and having some irritation/rash on my chest, face and arm. Within 30 minutes of the the third injection, my face turned beet red and felt feverish and swollen. The next day my forehead was peeling and my face was still flush and irriated, but not as much. . My Dr. has told me to go off the Enbrel and start another medication. I have an appointment next week to discuss options. However, I was wondering if any has had allergic reactions to Enbrel and if so how did they manage it--did you have success with another biologic drug?

That is a reaction unlike any others I have read about. I have not tried Enbrel but have used Remicade, Humira, and am now take Simponi - all biologic meds. I had a major reaction to Humira. I had to go on prednisone to control the symptoms of the reaction. I did have a fever, but no swelling of my face. I had massive joint swelling and pain, extreme fatigue, and a rash. I lost feeling in my feet and legs that caused me to fall upon standing and break my leg. It was a nightmare.

I was put on Enbrel first and after a few injections the injection site swelled all up, it was raised, hot, red and about the size of a baseball. The rheumatologist told me to stop it right away and thought I might be allergic to some of the preservatives they use in it.   She switched me to the Humira and I haven't had any problems with that.   Been on it for almost two years now.   Once in awhile the injection site is a little itchy for a day, but that's about it.    Humira is the same type of drug as Enbrel but you might want to ask your doctor if he/she thinks it might have been something in the preservatives and if Humira might be worth a try.
