Update!

Hi All,
Just went to see my Rheumy the other day and he has now done the paperwork for me to go back on humira. I was on humira for crohns so we had to go through lots of other drugs for the RA to finally be approved to go back on humira and hope it works for the RA, I am struggling to walk lately and the pain in my hands and knees are also becoming unbearable but my feet are the worst. I am on methotrexate and tried cyclosporin and pred but nothing is easing the pain so he wants me to stay on the methotrexate injections as well as humira, so I am going to be a pin cushion with the amount of injections I have to give myself. Anyway hopefully it will be worth it if I can have some pain free days. Hopefully be able to lead a somewhat normal life. I have just come to terms with my ileostomy but that took me over a year to be able to accept having that. I have also had some really bad episodes of iritis but the doc seems to think the combination of the humira and methotrexate should also help my eyes. What a mess I am. I worked a 10 hour shift today and it almost killed me my poor feet are up like balloons and have to do another big shift at work tomorrow, I dont know how much longer I will be able to work, its only a casual job as I am on disability but I need the extra to suppliment the small income. To make things worse my dad was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and starts chemo next week although its a very aggressive cancer the doc says it may give him an extra month or 2 and as it stands now they are saying he only has 6 to 12 months so I have been taking him to all his doc appointments and seeing him deteriorating is killing me, I would swap places with him in a heartbeat, he truely is the worlds best dad and Im so worried about my mum and how shes coping as well. I try to put on the brave face for them and then come home and cry myself to sleep, I cant imagine life without my dad. Thanks for listening everyone, take care

Thanks for your reply golitho and your kind words. I am so sorry you are also going through a flare at the moment, I hope it improves fast for you. I am on norspan patches for pain relief 10mg anything stronger send me to sleep and cant function but the pain is still bad even on the patches. Take care of yourself and keep me posted on how your going too.

When humira works it is just so good, I remember being able to run again on it.

But I met a guy over last summer who told me he was so bad with his RA (in a wheelchair) he had to give up his successful business as an opthalmologist and he moved to Queensland where its warm all year round and now he just takes fish oil!!! He runs on the beach each morning and swims. So I keep hoping it will eventually pan out for me too.
Just going through a very low patch its hard to keep my head up at the moment.
