Hi Heather,
Last year I had hip pain for about 8 mos. Not sure what got it started and at the time I figured it was the FM, since I had no idea I might have something else going on. Had a hard time walking and could not sleep at night. The pain radiated down the leg to the front of that knee too. I was a disaster. Pain medicine and cold pack were the only thing that helped. I used a cold pack at night on the hip. During the day I, if I were sitting, I used a cold pack to the hip and the front of the knee. We traveled during this time and I had to use the 2 cold packs in the car. For some reason it seemed to finally go away in November. I assumed it was the FM since the pain seemed to be all along the outside of that leg from hip down, so I figured it was a type of faciatis (sp?). P.T. did not help. It actually aggravated it. Stretching helped a little and I also used a pillow between my legs in bed. I had an xray but it only showed mild OA in that hip, so again I still think it was the darned FM!
Would you pr. doc give you something for breadthrough pain? Last year, they gave me Darvocet and I did use that when I needed it. I have Tramadol for my current pain problems. Cant remember if you use this already. Not sure how you are coping with working and being on your feet.
Hope your day is better today.
