I take Celebrex because I cannot take any of the other anti-inflammatories.  The others are too hard on my stomach. I also gave chronic gastritis. I take 200 mg a day.  My rheumy wants me to take 400 mg a day until the MTX kicks in. I am to start MTX next week, as I was just diagnosed with RA. I am hesitant to take that much Celebrex.  I can take 200 mg a day, and get by. I am in pain and swollen, but I can deal with that for a while until the MTX starts working, I think.  Let us know what your rheumy says, please...???

I know lots of people will not take prednisone but that's what I was given during the time period needed for the MTX to kick in. It worked for me. Has he suggested this to you?

I was wondering the same thing as weary. Seems like many people post that they are on Prednisone while waiting for the MTX to kick in.

My rheumy did say that if I was in too much pain, she would prescribe 10 to 15 mg of prednisone a day until the MTX started to work. A lot of poeple are so down on prednisone. I know there are serious side effects if one takes it too long. It has worked wonders for me in the past for pain and inflammation, though. That may be what I need to do.

If 200mg is working for you then why is he upping the dose? Only thing I can think of is, your inflammation is high and he wants to try reduce it as quick as possible.
Unfortunately I look every where and I see so many bad side effects or complications on all these meds, celebrex was supposed to advertise on the box but I see nothing on them, not even a little panflet inside.

Excuse my spelling, I have heard that celebrex isn't as bad now, but I'm still skeptical about it, my lovely wise Nana has stopped taking them for her osteoarthritis because she worries, so I don't know what to believe anymore.

The 200 mg isn't working all that well. I take Tramadol and Celebrex, and I am still in pain and fatigued. I have a lot of swelling right now...both knees, wrist, both elbows, both ankles. I take my first dose of MTX Friday. I hope it works!
