I have recently been diagnosed with RA. The Dr took lots of
X-rays to confirm diagnoses. The lung x-ray showed a mass
in the lung. They suggested a Cat scan. Recently had scan
and they said the mass is 4 cm mass and suggested further investigation. I have not yet had a reply from my GP, of course
I understand the possibility of cancer. I know that RA lung
causes nodules which is 3 cm, however, I have a mass. My
question is can RA lung cause a Mass or just nodules ?

I think these are questions that your doctors should answer. I get most of my information from the internet, though. I never had any lung x-rays, when diagnosed. Were you having lung problems?

I hope this isn't cancer. Try to remain optimistic. Keep calling your doctor...sometimes they seem to forget that a few minutes of their time to explain something can be a miracle in helping us cope.

Wishing you the best...keep us updated. Remember that we do care here...this is the best forum I've been a member of, and I've been on a lot of them. I keep coming back, mostly when I'm sickest and feeling the worst. It helps to have someone who understands the pain, confusion and frustration.

I was diagnosed with RA Lung 3 months ago. I don't think it has to be a mass. I have no masses, nor nodules. My RA affects the lining around my lungs, and I have had 2 plural effusions drained. Doctors don't always tell you everything, and sometimes you have to ask specific questions. I was diagnosed with RA 10 years ago, and was relatively well, for the most part. Until it moved to my lungs, that was a game changer. Good luck!

This is the first time I have ever heard of lung RA. So sorry you are dealing with this, Jim. As April said, we are here to support you, whatever that may be. My husband has advanced prostate cancer, and while it is incurable, he has had a lot of treatments just recently made available.
Let us know how it turns out when you see your Dr and how we can help.
