RA and steroids

I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with RA and I was put on steroids! ugh I have gained 12 pounds and I also was started on plaquenil. I have completed my steroids and my weight is not going down. Does everyone suffer from this weight gain. I do not want to be fat.

Tammy,
Steroids like sugar. They stimulate your craving for sugar. Once you start feeling better, walk it off. For now just let the plaquenil do it's thing. Try to avoid eating after 6pm and NO sugar after noon. That and walking daily will trim it off.

Hello, I don't allow any doctor to put me on any steroids do to the weight gain.

I have been on 30mg prednisone for a week now and so far no weight gain.
