Hi well as Hubby had been concerned about me getting it done also driving home after I rang hospital yesterday to ask & they said bring pillows for the trip home So OK we got up at 6am drove the 50min(1hr) into the Hospital with hubby scowling the whole time saying he was worried.
then Neurologist gets there and his Registrar (side kick ) comes in She was Very Nice She'd be doing it (oh oh) but ok
in goes first Local anaesthetic stung a bit but ok then can you feel this YES ok More Anaesthetic -- then again , then again, then push Pain then REAL PAIN so More Anasetic then push then Shooting pain down leg and feel nauseas, I think we got up to 6 anasetic needles and maybe 10 goes at the lumbar puncture -- not sure as I lost count as I was busy sweating , she kept saying " I keep hitting Bone " - Yep you sure did !
so anyway just as I was about to say hay I've had enough STOP - She turned to the Dr and said she didn't want to keep trying
she was really nice and it was no doubt my weird back that was the issue, I did feel sorry for her
But then they said I'd get it done under a CT scan Hmmm nono I might think about that
so I came home wrapped in my pillows and went to bed
oh yes Hubby keeps Saying I Knew Something was going to go wrong ! !

Wish you. Had read my posts on those as I tried to tell you it wasn't a good tests to get done. I hope you'll be okay and not get any spinal headaches. Take things very easy for a few days, like no moving around.
Many many prayers.....worried about you, so rest up.

Hi yeah ive had a headache most of the day and just feel lousy
my main worry is going back to get it done Again under the CT Scan
right now I can't see myself able to do that.
I keep imagining that sudden Pain

If they weren't successful pulling spinal fluid then you won't get the classic spinal headache. Perhaps just a headache from a nightmarish failed medical experience!

I'm so upset for you!!

Gretchen 1, I'm so with you on being upset with how all this went for BadDay...
The almost same thing happened to me, I did not get a doctor either which was very upsetting...The Hospitals should tell you when a doctor is going to do this procedure or the PA, because if I knew a PA was going to do mine I would have declined it with no way in hell of doing it...,For the Hospital to take this right away from us - is to me grounds for a lawsuit.

Drink plenty of water and get some caffine in you if that headache persist and if the headache lingers on into tomorrow night then go to the ER, or if you can't in anyway sit up without the headache. I could'nt eat or sit up in bed without the headache I had...it's the worse headache you've ever had...I need 2 spinal blood patches to get over all that...$200 Hospital ER bill for one of those...pm did the other one a few days later...Sure hope your doing better...

yes they did it by feel and as I have a bad back (osteoporosis and arthritis and disc bulges) I think the spaces may have been different or something. but I di think knowing that they should have used the xray-ct in the first place, and I think the headache is stress and I keep getting a sciatic type of pain down leg,and a hole and huge bruise on my back
But I am Seriously Scared to go back for a 2nd try

Talk to your neurologists that ordered this test to see if you can get a dx without it. Sit down and explain to him/her all that happened with your lumbar puncture and hopefully you'll not have to go through it again. I'm also very scared to go through another one and will just say the heck with it, they have got to come up with a better test for MS or whatever they we're checking you for...Sure hope your bruise goes away soon, the one bruise that I had that took a long time to heal was for the 2nd blood patch were they had to get blood from my neck vein, I had a huge bruise from that...Write a letter of complaint to the hospital. I have one started for mine and will send it soon...I agree x-ray guideance should've been used on you...and I do hear you on the fear it is a painful procedure, maybe ask your neruo if they could do the next one with you under sedation. They had to keep stabing me as well and even then they hit a nerve root that to this day gives me pain, because they wouldn't stop to numb it...

What an awful thing to go through! I'm so sorry.

I agree with Chartreux - tell the neurologist that ordered the test exactly what you went through. I'd bring the husband along to he can back up your story.

I hope you feel better. (And I got virtual hugs if you want them!)

Hi yes one thing im having problems with now is sciatica type pain down the hip that they hit the nerve on and I keep feeling nauseas
I think ill ask if there is another way instead of doing it again

Try using a combination of ice and heat packs on your back, hopefully it'll get better soon.
Prayers and well wishes, when do you have your appointment with the neurologists? Keep us posted on that.
