It's hard to tell in my experience. Prednizone is a powerful drug and it very well could be that for sure. When I weaned off of it I too had a lot of soreness and stiffness come back and it was bad as well.
Once I was below 10 mg a day I was only able to lower my doseage by 1-.5 mg without seeing a flare up and being really sore every 3-4 weeks. It took a very long time to be free from it and I had to increase the doseage a few times because it was just too much.
The nature of RA is that it will adapt to these meds over time. Some faster than others because your immune system figures out that the doctor is trying to trick it with Rx meds. I have had it happen with enbrel and sulfasalazine. It really is a testament to how complex and powerful the immune system is when you stop to think about
it.
I'm sorry you are hurting :( I really hope that you feel better soon. Just make sure to go really slow on getting. Off of the prednizone. If you need to increase your dose there is no reason not to it is not worth it to be in constant pain. It's almost as if you have to trick your body to get off of it. Hang in there!
