Stopped all RA meds today!!

Was on Enbrol auto-inject for a month had to stop due to skin infection. Also Metho 7ccs once a week and had two Remicade infusions. So saw my RA doctor today and she said you look sick. I said everyday I feel like I have the flu,no engery and now getting burning in my chest like my heart is on fire. She wanted to try something new and I said I'm done. I have lost half my hair, feel sick and still hurt. I feel like the walking dead and said I'm done. Told her after a month will see what happens when all these meds leave my body but right now I can't handle another day of feeling sick. She took blood work before I left today looking for a reason why I'm so sick and wants me to see my reg. doctor tomorrow. Will do that,not sure what he can do about any of this. I hope you feel better and get relief. I did the same thing but I couldn't stick to it, I was so horribly flared up after a few weeks I could hardly get to the bathroom. I hope you don't go through this but I totally understand how you feel on the meds. Some of them can make us so sick and horrible feeling its hard to tell which is worse the meds or the RA. For me it was the RA. :( I am still hopeful that at some point I might be able to lower my MTX and eventually get off it completely.

You might consider seeing someone who practices acupuncture and has treated those with RA. It has helped me after just a couple visits and my pain levels have gone down. It has been proven to be helpful in studies as well.

Thank you RA friends. Just came back from Doctor and I have a fungal (spelling?) infection in my throut (spelling) and scalp said reason I don't feel good. Talked me back into getting infusions again....UGH!!! Have to wait a week after the meds for infection are gone,so Nov 25th is my next infusion with Remicade. Was looking to see if my infusions are covered by my medicare,yes they are except the 20% so stressed about how to pay that. Sure the stress isn't helping along with hearing from my best friend who has been fighting breast cancer for two years now. She called me three weeks ago telling me in mid Sept. they gave her less then 6 months. My heart is broken and she is only 56 this Oct. She has suffered so bad and they are still trying to give her more chemo!!! Why ? Okay so back to my own chemo will try again but I am not going to take the MTX don't care what they say...all these meds are bad enough. Thank you for being here....Much love to you all.

Chartreux thank you for prayers for my friend. Her cancer is the worst you can get. Any cell left makes a new tumor. She has had 4 surgeries,loss the use of her left arm is so cut up and a dozen more tumors just grew with one now in her lungs. She knows this is the end and has suffered enough on this earth.
I did look for help for that 20% but said it won't if you are on Medicare. Will have to see what the bill will be and try to make ends meet some how. Thank you again for letting me vent and for your many prayers. I do like your edit button remark,wouldn't that be nice for everyone...Much love...

Neenaa thank you so much...My doctor is asking me if I'm willing to take 2cc's of Metho I told her I'll think about it..She had me on 7cc shots. Because I have trush infection have not taken any Metho for the past week and not sick how good that feels. But I know she is trying to get me back on it and then she'll try to push it back up. She said they have to work together,say's who??? As far as my friend she said they want hospice to come in and she said NO I'm not ready!!! She is going to wait till but said it's the pain that she needs controled and working with a pain doctor and nerve blocks. She wants to live and my heart is broken. So much going on...my brother who is only in his 50's is having a huge heart surgery where the doctors told us his chances of getting off the table are so low,but I believe he has been through so much already where he should have died and made it that he'll make it through this. I have to believe,I can't lose anymore in my life. I just lost my Mom this April...I can't handle anymore and be sick myself...much love to all of you.

When I first tried enbrel it did help out with the condition but also had the same side effects, psoriasis like symptom so I had to stop enbrel, My dox suggested methotrexate but had been reading this thread and pass for now i guess, i had enough of the side effect from taking enbrel.

Right now I'm taking combination if NSAIDs and Omega 3 supplement for the inflammation. So far I didn't have to worry of the psoriasis like symptoms from taking enbrel... Hopefully our condition worked for the better.
