reiter syndrom and chlamydia

I a 24 year olds male and im have real bad problem's. 4 years ago my  ex girl friend come down with chlamydia, i went to the  E room  told them, dr give me pills never tested me i took pills fROM Nov.TO JAN 1  2002 iv  , then i broke out ureathritis with prostotitis and hurting testicals real bad they put me on more antiboitis, and tested me nothing  ever come back i went to OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY for ureathra burning got a scope showed nothing and a ultra sound hurting testicals nothing come back  ,they offered to put me back on antibiots but they was not helping so i quit sayed no, im been in pain for 4 years now and can barly walk now  went to my faimly dr 3 weaks ago  nothing has got better, he give me 7 days of cripto it made me hurt with joint pain wores, my hips hurts got chest pains in the hart  EKG SHOWED NOTHING, my eyes sting some times,The sole''S of my feet sting, ankles hurt my pevic area hurts real bad and i still have ureathrites. It dont hurt to pee just sting all day feel's good to pee its like a stinging burning heat pain in the ureathra,, i live in a rular area its a all day trip to ohio state 100 miles away, my dr' never heard of this lasting this long. Could this be  RERTERS SYNDROME if chlymidia is still not showing up in tests could i still have it. what do i do can they test my hurting knee's for chlamydia, my dr's dont no never heard of ureathritis last this long. i dont no what to do. any info with help thanx

it sounds as if you have a serious serious condition. Reiter's syndrome is a reactive arthritis and YES you do get it from an infection. it can be any infection. but usually it is from a chlamydial, gonorrheal, etc...infections. it is very painful and needs treatment.
the burning sensation is typical of urethritis and prostitis.
are you still taking antibiotics? did you see an infectious disease doc yet?
it sounds as if the infection is still active.
any infection left untreated will eventually end up in an arthritis...even those like syphylis and Lyme's too.
i would also consult with a rheumatologist.
there are health clinics where docs treat people who have contracted an STD for little or no cost.
be sure to monitor your temperature frequently and drink clear fluids and when you feel the urge to urinate...do so and don't hold it.
if it gets bad go to the ER if you have to.
i will do a little more research on this and write back again.
i'm a nursing student and am specific to rheumatics and infectious disease.
i know how painful this must be.
can you take Tylenol in the meantime??
