Duh. Forgot to add a subject on my post. Brand new here. Was just diagnosed with RA and got a steroid shot in my butt. Was told it would take a week to feel better. Any experiences?

Ugh, shots! I really hate them. Especially those butt shots.

The shot will help for awhile, but won't last.

What other medications are you being put on?

I'm new to this crazy train too and so far it's been a wild ride.

Steroids make me carb crazy. All I want to eat is sweets. Watch out for that. If you have blood sugar issue it will make it sky rocket.

Hi Joy,

Thanks for answering. I'm not on any meds yet. I got the diagnosis and she shot me with the Steriods. She said it should last about a month and then we'd see. She thinks I have Palindromic type which is a series of flares and remissions when I have no pain. She'll probably start me on Methotextrate in June. I have to say I'm feeling great...just like I did about a year ago. Also, I'm eating a Paleo type diet. No grains at all.

Hi Warm Heart,

I LOVED the shot in the butt!!! It's called a bolus, it's a high dose of prednisone at once. I felt better within several days.

Instead, I am having to take a high dose every day for 10 days to equal the shot. I think there's less side effects than with prednisone pills with the prednisone shot.

Those shots help me for a little over a month and started working the day after the shot...to me its wonderful, but hate the weight gain and red face....love hate..

Yikes. No weight gain or red face yet...we'll see...it's worth it for a month or so. I feel so good.
