I started having pain in my hands last year. I went to the doctor and she said it was RA after a blood work. This year I'm starting to hurt more in that its hurting ALL OVER my body. I wake in the mornings feeling like I have been run over by a truck!! My muscles hurt all day. Oh and horrible headaches. I sometime even feel sick to my stomach. Once I'm moving it does get better but never goes away all day.

My RA factor is 15 and normal is 14 this year, last year it was 18. My ANA showed drug induced lupus/Homogenous positive. Is that normal with RA?

My I haven't started RA medication as yet but seriously thinking I might need to start this year. I've been hesitant because I feel like I'm going to take it and possibly get another issue from it like the side effect of cancer? So I ease the pain of RA to get something else??? Does anyone else have these concerns and is this pain normal to hurt all over?

By delaying treatment you're getting more and more damage in your joints.

I was having constant pain until I changed doctors and my new doctor became more aggressive in my treatment.

The sooner you fight the less damage you have.

Tater is right. The longer you wait the worse it will affect you and it can be crippling very quickly and hard to catch up to with treatment once it is really going strong.

I hate to say this but if you have been diagnosed with RA Sansa you are already at a considerably higher risk of cancers like lymphoma etc. It is a bummer but maybe it will help set you at ease a bit about the medications. Many of the side effects listed are risks that we as RA sufferers are already at greater risk for even untreated. I think that their warnings are just the way that they cover their butts legally.

I hope that you feel better but if you are hurting then I hope you get to the Doctor and get treatment going ASAP. Follow directions and find a Doctor that you can trust. It won't get better on it's own trust me.

Thank you both. I guess no medication is better than another and I just have to find what works for me?

This is often the case. Most Doctors will follow a protocol to try to give the medication with the highest success rate with the lowest side effects. It also depends though on how aggressive and active the disease is as well.

I hope that you have a Doctor that listens well and you trust. Read about the side effects but try not to panic. Many of them if you spend some time reading about RA are the same especially the more severe ones. -Don
