Okay guys.....here's the latest. My ortho appointment was yesterday. The MRI showed torn meniscus, almost NO cartilage left in the knee so it's pretty much bone on bone. Bone spurs are developing, bits of bone are "floating" around in there and the inflammation due to the arthritis is plentiful! I need another surgery (this would make 6!) but he doesn't want to do another one until the inflammation is cooled down. I had my Remicade infusion today and have another one in 5 weeks so I'll see the orthopedic surgeon after that. He may do Supartz injections to tide me over, until surgery is absolutely unavoidable. I had injections done on my right knee before I had that knee replaced. So, right now it's just a "wait and see" game. I guess game is not exactly the right word but I'm sure you all know what I mean!! My husband and I have this fabulous trip to St. Maarten planned next week and we're going to go even though I'm not walking well. I mean, I can sit under an umbrella on the beach and read as well as I can sit at home so I hope I make it okay on the flight! That's my concern.....the flight and sitting for that long. I can stretch out, ice my knee and rest when I get there.
Thanks, you guys, for all your care and support. I'm so glad I found HW! It's been such a lifesaver! Sometimes it's hard to explain to the rest of the world what life is like in this body but you all know and that is such comfort! I do have to say that this orthopedic surgeon is so knowledgeable about all this autoimmune stuff. I'm really grateful to have found him! Well, you all take care and I'll check in when we get back from our trip.
