Some Kind Of a Infection

nono  I have had this infection before. The last time I had it the dr said it was a facial infection called Cellulitis. It is a bacterial infection that can effect your face arms and legs. The other day it came back. When i went to the hospital this time they said it was a sinus infection. Today my face is twice the size that it was yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has had this type of infection?? Not that I want anyone to go through this.

Dear Friends, I have had cellulitis 4 times and 3 times in one summer. It is a bacterial infection, and it affects the cells in the second layer of skin. The symptoms are;swelling, redness, warmth like you have a high fever in that area. You also can become confused. You have to watch the area it covers because it can become quite serious if allowed to spread. I was in the hospital on 4 antibiotics I.V. before they finally called the infectious disease doctor. When I went home I had to be on I.V.'s for 6 weeks with visiting nurses. After I finally healed up, I had to take antibiotics one week out of every month for 2 years. Since then I have not had any more cellulitis. It happens when you have any type of opening in your skin where the staff germ can enter your body. It can be as small as a paper cut, or something like athletes foot. I hope this has helped you, I didn't mean to scare you only to caution you to be careful with this disease. If you have any more questions please write back.

Dear Nic Nac,

Thank You for your reply. I am on Cipro that iv'e been taking for a couple days. i ended up back at the hospital yesterday. They ordered a ct scan. I have to go tomorrow and have that done. The swelling seems to be changing. My upper lip is not that swollen anymore but it looks like it's going into my chin. It scares me because I have read about Cellulitis and the outcome can be extream. You mentioned that it normally comes on because of a sore or cut, I never had a cut or a opening of any kind. When i had it last time it started from what looked like a pimple. How I got it this time i have no idea. Thank You again for all your help.

Dear Andrea, Your quite welcome. Cipro is a very good antibiotic and I believe your docs are on the right track. Sometimes you can't find the initial entry way for the germ to get into your body.
